Weekends

Weekends are for memory making,
relaxing and enjoying quiet moments of our days.
If you would like, please share your weekend moments
in the comment section with a link to your blog.

Can you believe it snowed here yesterday?  All day the weather we were supposed to have three months ago finally arrived.  Call me crazy but it was beautiful to watch inside my cozy warm house (full of knitting, of course).

This weekend was all about that little bathroom redo.  The ceiling and walls in the tub area had mold (ick) that could not be bleached out anymore, I've tried.  So he treated the whole area and now we are back to pretty nice looking walls and ceiling!  We picked "purple veil" which is the same color as the powder room from the main level.  It's a vibrant light lavender.  I do love it so.

I've bought new towels and rugs and so of course started cleaning out one linen closet and then added our linen closet.  It's the great big purge around here.  Anything that is "tattered" can go to the vet hospital.  I'll never forget when Zoe (our previous dog - 1998-2009) had to be put down and they brought in a donated blanket as we said goodbye.  So sheets, towels, blankets all go to them for their other goodbyes and emergencies and whatever they use them for.  They are grateful and so am I for their service.

My lilac is slowly budding resisting the winter weather and I am loving its tenacity!

How was your weekend?  Please share!

As always I love to read your comments and visit with you.  I'm humbled by how sweet our "community" is and how some of you have been around for years and years and some of you are brand new!  I have a special place for all you silent readers, you know who you are.  I once was a silent reader of many blogs for years until I gathered the courage to start a blog.

So thank you all!  Please visit each other and share a comment when you can!

  1. We had snow as well but it melted pretty fast. I also enjoyed the morning knitting, sipping tea and watching the snow fall. It was really pretty - big fat flakes.

  2. We have had snow too, and are expecting quite a bit overnight. But it looks like spring is set to arrive for real this coming week, and I can't wait! What a wonderful idea to take old blankets and such to the vet hospital, I will keep that in mind. Thanks for sharing that Karen.

Wishing you a beautiful week ahead, I hope the sun shines on you.

  3. The last part of your post really struck home for me. I have read blogs for a while and never left many comments. I have only recently started my own blog and started to leave comments. Even now I second guess what I say when I comment or worry ithat I comment too much on favorite blogs. I'm glad you acknowledge the silent ones and make others feel comfortable in sharing. I hope you have a lovely week. Lisa

    1. I did that too, but the more you comment the less you rethink your words, what's nice is that the crafting community is supportive and oh so friendly!!

  5. The cold and snow we had a week or so ago made most of the forsythia blossoms turn brown. :(. I'm pretty sad about it; I love their golden branches. But, I'm glad your lilacs are surviving the cold temps. I love to read the names of paint colors--"Purple Veil" is such a lovely one. Happy Weekending.♥

  6. Your weather seems a bit unfair. My weekend was about unpacking and doing some things that will make going back to work after spring break a bit less brutal.

  7. I'm usually silent since I read blogs while knitting. I hate to put the knitting down! Until I can comment with my brain waves alone I will likely stay silent. LOL. Thanks for the tip on old linens, I have a bunch I can take to a local animal hospital.

  8. Since we almost NEVER get snow, looking at your pine tree with it's bit of white just makes me HAPPY!!!!

Our weekend was good --- a nice trip to Lakeland to buy some new clothes and then today a fellow blogger (Judy from http://stitchalongwithme.blogspot.com) and her husband came all the way from Seattle for a visit!!!

Bloggers really are a wonderful bunch of folks.

  10. Your weekend sounds lovely and cozy. My girl and her girls left our house yesterday morning after spending a week with us for Spring break-the rest of my weekend was spent recuperating from all the fun- straightening up the house, laundry and of course knitting. I am trying to knit a color work shawl using only yarn from my stash. Trying to figure out my colors (I need 7!) has taken me days. I think I might finally have it figured out and plan to cast on when I am done with my blog reading tonight. I am also working on Grandy sweater #2, for Amelia Kay. I hope you have a wonderful week.

  11. Amazing to think that a lot of areas are having snow so late in the season. 29 years ago this week I gave birth to my youngest daughter in Germany and had trouble getting in/out of the hospital due to the extensive snowfall. We really have had a mild winter here in the UK.

  12. We had a brief hailstorm a few days ago, but other than that the temperatures have been slowly rising here in the UK. It was lovely to be able to spend some time in the garden over the weekend. I love to watch snow falling when you're warm and cosy inside. Enjoy your week xx

  13. Great photos of a not so great weekend (weather wise at least!) On the spur of the moment (because weather) we decided to do an quick overnight get away. It was fun, good food, and even better conversation!

  14. Eeek, snow in April. I'm hoping that we've seen the last of the snow around here now until next winter. Your little bathroom sounds lovely now that it's had its makeover, I do like light lavender. We do the same thing with unwanted towels and bedding, everything goes off to the Dogs Trust, a rehoming charity we have over here. They must go through so many things with all the dogs they look after so they're only too pleased to take these sort of donations and I feel better too that our unwanted things are being put to good use.

  15. I spent most of my life living in upstate NY, so snow in April doesn't seem too unusual. We had very chilly rain & sleet here in IL. Thanks for the tip about donating towels to the Animal Hospital; my Mom recently passed away & I know she would like us to make a donation of her towels.

  21. Wow, snow this late? Poor Mother Nature is all screwed up by global warming; it's scary to think about that. An indoor weekend for us to keep warm and cozy. We started restricting their phone usage so the girls were on their phones all weekend, playing games, watching LPS videos, and listening to music. My tween is participating in a challenge w/her BFF in which they have to learn so many songs by the end of the year. I lounged comfortably in long-sleeves and lounge pants. You already see me on IG so I won't be redundant.

  22. Your pictures are very lovely. I realize the snow might not be on everyone's wish list but like you, I've been grateful for a little of the wet and gray that is our our way. The weekend was really busy. It wasn't bad, just very busy I am looking forward to what Caffeine Girl had, a quiet productive weekend sometime soon. But as my son said, "Well at least we all have clean socks and underwear !" ;)

  24. The weather has gone crazy hasn't it! I woke to snow on Sunday and a really hard frost, by midday it the sun was shining and the temperatures felt like they had soared!

  25. I can't believe you had snow! At this point I am really over the cold and can't wait for warmer weather - especially since I've been sick all week and couldn't get warm. Saturday was a rest day and Sunday was our 1/2 marathon. It was a good weekend, but I look forward to one without any kind of plans!

  26. We enjoyed the warmest weather here since last summer -- was in the mid-80s on Thursday and Friday last week. Of course, we were away in Idaho where it was a tad cooler (yet still very warm). When we arrived back home, I was delighted that my apple trees along with my bluebells and a few other flowers had blossomed! Cannot imagine snow at this point, but I'm glad you got cozy with your yarn. :) Sharing my weekend today...better late than never!

  27. We had a busy weekend away visiting and speaking at a church on the Olympic Peninsula, a part of Washington I'd never been to yet! I got to stop into a few yarn stores and we stayed in a couple different hotels with POOLS so my girls were happy campers! While we were gone it was very warm here in Yakima and I came home yesterday to lilacs in full bloom and irises about to explode - but I seem to have missed the most vibrant part of the apple blossom display in the orchard next door and my tulips are already fading. Bittersweet!
