Knitting on Vacation
As promised, I'm sharing some photos I snapped on my Cape May vacation from the Nikon camera. I find I like the portability of my iphone but you cannot compare those photos with the Nikon. I carried the big camera at least one during the day.
My husband and son had the epic paddle ball volley on the beach - 402 times, never to be beaten the rest of the vacation. I am the one who sits and watches. Staying out of the sun under the umbrella, I read my book or people watch. The old people aren't as old as they appeared when I was in my thirties. I hope as I age I can walk briskly on the beach like them - and look healthy.
We stayed at the Victorian Lace Inn and I adored their porch. I spent many hours sitting and knitting (and sheltering from the sun). My next house will have a porch - it must! I have a patio and it's not the same.
I added inches to the dress length and I'm close to the edging linen stitch detail. All that's left is some buttons, knitting the armholes and neckline. Sweet!
I did two rows on my cardigan, sadly vacationing was more important than knitting.
I too like the portability of my iPhone but the quality of my Nikon. Have you noticed a change (for the worse) in the iPhone camera after the last update or am I just dreaming that?ReplyDelete
There's nothing sad about just enjoying vacation. The knitting will still be there. ;-)Delete
My Nikon (or Canon) don't get out much either. To tell the truth, I don't think they've been "out" since we moved to Jacksonville. It's just easier to cart the phone around. But, you are right . . . "big" cameras do better photos.
my iphone has a funky halo if the light hits it a certain way. I haven't dropped it so I assumed it was one of the ios updates. I'm holding out for a new phone in the fall...Delete
Glad you had a great time! A beautiful place to stay.ReplyDelete
I always take more knitting than I ever accomplish on vacation. But ours are usually on the beach in Daytona and there is no way I could stand to knit with the hot sticky weather. But this year we are going back in late September, who knows, maybe it will be cool enough?ReplyDelete
Looks so nice! I stay out of the sun too, and my husband doesn't really like the beach...so I don't get there very often. Cape May is beautiful!ReplyDelete
Oh I'd love to have a porch like that! How lovely it is; I'd be there every chance I could get. Glad you had a lovely holiday with your loved ones.ReplyDelete
IM with you i LOVE a porch. I love the pink knit up! so delicate . Glad you enjoyed your trip!! I have to say my big old camera takes the best pictures too. BUt i Have an iphone that is old. very oldReplyDelete
Gorgeous photos of your vacation. I love how portable my phone is but the photos from an actual just are out of this world.ReplyDelete
The Big Camera is always worth it! and I must say - I LOVE that baby dress! the bodice detail is adorable - what a lucky baby girl!ReplyDelete
Sounds like a fun holiday. I love the gorgeous little dress.ReplyDelete
i have beach envy that i'm going to have to contain for at least a month! Your beach vacations and mine sound very similar....read, knit.....walk miles on the beach with my camera.....the house we rent has a pool and is right on the beach, so i do a little pool to beach to pool to porch hopping!!! (can you believe i'm almost packed for that upcoming vacation...excited much?!?) so glad yours was wonderful....and i adore that little pink dress you are working on. so cute!!ReplyDelete
I love this. Vacation knitting is always so special. It sounds like this place is full of memories for you, old and new. Oh, how the years fly. Bittersweet.ReplyDelete
I hope I can still move well for many years to come. Thanks for taking us along on your vacationReplyDelete
It looks so beautiful there! it would be so nice to take out knitting on the beach. Your dress looks so nice so far an the cardigan is turning out so well. I love the colors you chose for both.ReplyDelete
My big camera is definitely my go to for good shots but I love the iPhone for convenience and Instagram. We're halfway through our vacation and I look forward to writing about it. Karen, you would love the knitting stores!ReplyDelete
There is Nothing better than porch knitting at the beach. I'm just a little bit jealous.ReplyDelete
I just love this little dress, and the color you have chosen for your sweater is so beautiful.ReplyDelete
It reminds me of the ocean.
Looks like a very relaxing place! Glad you had a little break from routine - it is always a good thing :)ReplyDelete
