Spindrift Red Shawl Complete

Well now, I finished another shawl this week.  I am on fire - so hopefully I can keep up this momentum.  This shawl is a Christmas gift and I hope the recipient will love it.  Instead of wool, this shawl is 100% cotton, perfect for summer evenings with a light breeze or in transitional weather.

Even though this was cotton, I did not have any hand aches from the plant fiber.  Whenever I'm working with lace weight or fingering weight, I am okay no matter what the content.

I will be knitting this pattern again, the beginnings were memorizable as well as the lace eyelets.  All in all, this pattern would make a great beginning shawl if you know how to increase and decrease and basic knit stitches.

I am not a fan of a picot edge (cannot explain why) but I thought my intended recipient would enjoy the delicate edging.

Ravelry notes are here
Now to cast on something else :)

  1. Not only are you a speedy and prolific knitter, you are also a thoughtful one to think about the recipient of that lovely shawl! I usually think about dishcloth when I think of cotton, but it's so nice to see something so beautiful and delicate knit with cotton.

  3. What a beautiful shawl and how good you must feel to have a Christmas gift completed! My sister is allergic to wool, so I will keep that fine cotton yarn in mind for a project for her.

  4. It is a beautiful beautiful shawl. I am going to try your advice and try cotton fingering for a shawl. Thank you . Usually cotton hurts my hands. I'll give it a try.

    1. Sorry you're reading a book that has your interest dragging. If you feel you can't finish it, don't. Why waste time when there are plenty of others for you to enjoy out there.

  18. Gorgeous! I love that it's cotton, not one of my favorite fibers to work with but I think I'll have to give a fingering weight yarn a try. Great color, the recipient is very lucky! -Sierar
