Knitting News

olive heather henley :  I have been knitting the sweater almost daily and for a few hours at a time.  As you can guess, I am seeing progress!  I love tiny needles and fingering weight wool but worsted weight does have a place in my heart.  Today after the gym and lunch I hope to add more inches on the upper back patterning.

snowfling mitts :  Over the weekend I finished the one mitt and casted on the next mitt.  Both mitts are lined with a cashmere blend so I'm only 25% of the way finished with this decadent project.  I love knitting these mitts and maybe, just maybe I'll be wearing them at the beginning of spring?  Dare I say end of winter?  A knitter can hope!!

What are you working on this week?

  1. You are definitely making progress on the sweater and I just love that mitten pattern! They will be so snuggly warm...especially with the cashmere lining!

I'm working on some dishcloths to give for Valentine's Day. :)

  2. That sweater is wonderful and just the right amount of patterning. I can see why it makes you happy. And cashmere-lined mittens sound perfect for winter or spring. They are both beautiful projects!

  3. I love those mittens, and that cashmere lining will make them heavenly! I just finished a pair of fingerless mitts for my niece and just started a cute little stocking cap for my 20 month old great-niece.

  4. Karen those mittens are so beautiful and decadent, I love them. I am working on a quilt for Hector and some odd projects that have been languishing at the bottom of the basket.

  6. Oh I love your mitten and a half. To match one is always more difficult for me than to knit the first one. I hope yours is a blissful second mitt knit

  7. I finished crocheting that baby afghan. I have NOTHING on my needles. I am down with a nasty bug. But still at work.

  8. I love the sweater, Karen, and oh my goodness, those mittens!! They are just gorgeous. I have put my crochet aside for a while, and have decided to seriously teach myself to knit. I am okay with the basics, but beyond that?? :-(

I am inspired by the fact that I spent most of last year teaching myself to crochet, and I think I did well with it, which makes me believe that with the same effort, I may be able to do the same thing with knitting. Time will tell...

    Have a wonderful week!

  10. Your knitting is beautiful. The sweater is handsome and the mitts are just lovely. Something about the snowflake design is so classic. Enjoy! I think I'm working on a top down raglan sweater based on the pattern from Ann Budd's book. The emphasis is on I think.

I finished one Solar sock this afternoon and this evening I cast on the second sock. No SSS for me.

  13. I am knitting on baby things, afghan squares, and contemplating casting on another baby sweater. Since my routines are back to normal, I am back to blog reading in the morning and knitting while I read.

  14. Love that mitten! The sweater looks great, too. Sweaters are definitely slow going; to me the sleeves are like knitting two more backs! Have a great day.

  15. The mitten is beautiful (and the sweater, too). If you don't get them finished for this winter you'll have them for next!

  16. Those are going to be amazing mittens. I really need to take on mittens with a lining. It gets so cold in Wisconsin!
