Kindness

Now more than ever I find myself reflecting on the kindness of others.  I truly believe most people are good kind people.  I see kindness everyday when I go to the gym and strangers who are now acquaintances say 'hello' to be and I feel like I belong to a community.  Focusing on kindness leads to seeing more kindness in our life.

As Blogger continues to have its hiccups on our blog sites, I see blog friends reaching out to blog friends to help or give tips.  Whenever someone posts about a difficult time in their life, fellow blog commenters rally and give encouraging words.  I witness this on many blogs and that is why I love the blogging platform over the fast world of Instagram.

I want to have tunnel vision towards the nicety of human kind.  Our world would be a peaceful place if everyone would say something nice and hold off on the criticism.  To celebrate the best of humanity should be a universal goal.

Right when I was about to announce that my home has become a peaceful state of animal harmony, they (Frodo and Holly) started up the craziness around here again.  Holly keeps sneaking up on Frodo who is sleeping peacefully under his ottoman and just sits there.  He gets spooked then chases her.  I believe Holly wants to be chased and this is a form of kitten play.  Frodo chasing is his form of dog play.

Kitten play and dog play is VERY noisy.

So the unknown rule is:  Holly is allowed to bother (initiate play) Frodo, but Frodo is NOT allowed to bother Holly.  Holly makes all the rules.  There are moments in the day when I don't hear either of them and that makes for good knitting time.

Overall our little zoo is coming along nicely - just a bit noisy during parts of it!

  2. I think Frodo and Holly have settled into a happy -- if noisy -- life. Our cats do the same kind of play, and they both enjoy it. Nagi, who's a decade older, has even lost some weight!
I love your idea of having tunnel vision about kindness, but then I look at the newspaper! We've talked about stopping the NYT, but I'm a former newspaper journalist. I wouldn't feel right about that either.

  3. Harmonious living at last Karen, they seem to have settled well despite their noisy play. Here's hoping for harmony in all areas of our lives. Beautiful photos of your furry friends.

  5. If it's any consolation, we currently only have cats, and it's still noisy! :-)

    1. 8" is good length for socks; you're lucky that goes over your calf which I'm assumin'. My calves are wider so 7" just about goes up snug to the bottom of them.

  7. Hubster thinks the younger pup is his, but we can put that to the test by one word from me, Cooper! He leaves Dad's side and comes running to momma. The older pup is 100% mine, he will follow me to whatever room I roam to. And once there will not budge from my side, unless he hears the treat jar!

  8. This blogging community is so supportive; I see some of the snarkiness on other online sites and it makes me sad - and then I say a little of prayer of thanks for what we have. I think Holly is good for Frodo; she'll keep him acting young! Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. I agree that there are a lot of kind people in the world and we can reveal the kindness in others by wanting to see it and being open to it. I have also found when I am more patient and kind myself, then I can see the kindness in others and receive more kindness in return. That's great Frodo and Holly are having fun together! I have enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. Have a great weekend!

  10. I loved the gym camaraderie, back when I used to go. (Ahem...) I love how Frodo & Holly have become typical young siblings, including the noise and 'she's touching me' attitudes. And I still LOVE that knitting bag!

  12. Can you imagine the noise when two 7 month old dogs are running around my family room, barking and play growling, it is insane! I love blogging, it gives you time to really get to know people, the longer posts, the carefully chosen word, the photos. I am new to Instagram and that what it is an instant, not a story of someones life.

  14. This is so adorable. Little Holly rules the roost! So typical of kitties (based solely on kitties I've owned or pet-sat.) :) Your blog is always such a bright spot in my day! Catholic, knitting, cute animals! ~Jill M.

  15. I will be happy to have just one little animal in my home. He'll be noisy enough, methinks. There is no doubt that Frodo loves you.
