Two More Cowls

The above cowl is a simple double moss stitch that was delightful to knit.  Surprisingly, I was able to knit and read at the same time and not make (many) mistakes.  Well, I caught them ultra early, like as I was making the mistake.  This cowl is for Frodo's groomer (and who I babysit for!).  I think she'll love matching her daughter's sweater.

If you are wondering, I cast on 200 stitches, knit double moss stitch until I wanted to cast off.

Ravelry notes are here.

This orange cowl is another gift that came out beautifully.  I chose the broken rib stitch for the pattern and was thrilled at how easy it is, yet elegant to look at.  If you are wondering, I was able to knit and read at the same time.  Phew!  I'm confident that the recipient will love this cowl.

Ravelry notes are here.

I have a few more cowls (one or two) and then I'm free to knit for me me me.  I'm getting excited seeing the end of the holiday knitting.  I enjoyed knitting for special people in my life.  When the kids were growing up I never had time to knit for others.  Now that the kids are grown, I have room in my days to knit for Christmas.  Next year will not be on this grand knitting scale though.

What are you working on?

  1. Last night I seamed up the famous Christmas stocking. I cast on - why - a cowl from fingering scraps and a shawl. I have yarn for a sweater but not enough brain power to begin. I need to finish shopping and send off packages in three different directions. I like to mail early.

  4. Both beautiful, what lovely gifts. How nice that Mama and daughter will match. Gerard is writing the cards, I have a couple of penguins to make requested by Bertie and that is Christmas crafting finished. We can now sit back and enjoy the season.

  7. They both turned out so pretty. Love both colors. I am still in the "lack of cowl" stage. I have not re-cast on after ripping out what I had done. BUT...I am finishing up the 2nd pair of mitts and am on a second sock...then I can cast on for the elusive cowl.

  9. Love the cowls, specially the purple one. I'm also quite jealous. For the life of me, I can not knit any kind of pattern while reading. No matter how hard I try, my fingers automatically knit every stitch.

  10. OH the cowls are wonderful gifts! At this point I'm just knitting some cowls as You've seen and I'm not sure WHO they are for . I have a few ideas. It is nice to have a lovely scarf ready to gift and a cowl.

  11. The cowls are both beautiful! Elegant and simple ... words to live by. Though I seem to be failing miserably at such a motto. ha! I have plans to finish a baby sweater and a pair of socks. Truly! I have just been too tired and busy to knit the way I enjoy.

  12. Those are amazing gifts. I love the simplicity of both, and I admire you for making your own patterns. I don't always enjoy knitting gifts, but I do often give away items I thought I was knitting for myself!

  13. I am eager to do a few cowls in 2019. Working on my 2019 list of projects. So many wonderful things to knit - not enough time to do them all.
