Weekends

How was your weekend?  Mine was blissfully quiet and dull.  Well not quite so dull if you count my knitting.

Yesterday, I was knitting my fair isle sweater and not quite liking the green and light gray together.  However, I kept knitting because that is who I am.  I go until I make a decision.  So after about 10 rows, I decided I did not like the gray and ripped out those 10 rows and added my purple yarn that looks brown (or is it brown and I think it's purple??).

Today I knit the same ten rows that I knit on Saturday and I'm thrilled with the decision.  So Saturday's knitting was lost but Sunday's knitting was regained.  I broke even but had double the knitting fun.

Seriously though, the weekend was nice.  The house is clean, the laundry is caught up, I found my kitchen counters, we are slowly eating the rest of the Christmas cookies (yum).  Oh and we are eating all the left overs which means I'm not cooking.  I will skillfully avoid cooking if I can.

We attended Mass on Saturday night and I cannot believe it is already the Epiphany.  Where oh where does the time go?

I managed to read a few pages of George Washington this afternoon while ignoring the football game that was playing on the TV.

One more thing, the sun came out - yes!  The days have been endlessly cloudy and dreary so when the sun came out, we quickly went outside for a walk with Frodo.  I remember a summer of endless sunny days and wishing for a cloudy day.  Now here I am with cloudy days wishing for sunny days.  I like a little bit of everything.

The January days feel like a nice lull after all the work and preparation of Christmas.  I have nothing pressing in my mind to accomplish, no deadlines and it's wonderful.

How was your weekend?

  1. It is nice to get back to "normal," isn't it? We had quite a wind storm during the night, but it didn't really affect us as it did some others. Made a quick trip over to DD#2's to deliver Max's birthday gift. Can't believe that little guy is now 7! You're right, where does the time go? And why so fast?

  7. LOVE the colors you've chosen to knit with!
Glad you had a peaceful weekend. Mine was blissfully busy with cleaning the house and catching up on chores that didn't get done while work was 'in season.' As much as I despise scrubbing toilets and I didn't get much knitting done, it was wonderful getting the house off the 'should be condemned' list.

  11. The weekend was good. We had to watch the Chicago Bears lose their play off game last night .We were invited to a barn friends house for the game. IT was really fun to be with a group of people rooting for the bears in wisconsin. I knit on a sock during the game. I also got to go out and say hi to their 4 gorgeous horses.

  13. Isn't it wonderful to reclaim your home and your routines after a much-welcomed holiday break! I think you made a good decision about swapping the colors in your sweater. Not sure if it's purple or brown, but it does look more like you!

  16. After the holidays, quiet weekends are the best. We've had mild temps for January and walked in sunshine and light jackets. Today I put away the last of Christmas - my collection of picture books and moved the Christmas mugs back to the top shelf of the mug/glass cupboard. Your sweater looks great. Good color decision.
