Summer Sands Cardigan

I finished the little cardigan for the preschooler over the weekend.  Overall I'm happy with the results including the automatic striping.  Hopefully this will fit her (she currently wears size three and I made a size four).

I'm disappointed that when I bought the yarn I thought it was machine washable.  It is not.  My mistake and I put a tag inside instructing the preschooler's mom that it is 'hand wash".  My reading skills were lacking while I was enjoying the pretty subdued colors.

  1. Oh, such lovely colors! The striping turned out really well.

  2. It's so perfect for a toddler girl that I bet her mother won't mind the hand-washing at all. My kids used to like to play in water so maybe you could even hand-wash it together!

  6. It's beautiful, hopefully the hand wash only will be overwritten by the beauty of the cardigan.

  8. What a sweet little cardigan. I bet she will look so cute in it her Mom won't mind washing it by hand. The stripes worked out well. Now and then we all misread a label - at least I do for sure. It is a lovely gift.

  9. Ooh! That looks great! I'm adding it to the list of things to eventually knit for my soon to be grandbaby. The fact that I'm adding size 4 sweaters to my list for a baby that won't be born until the end of March, possibly April just goes to show my excitement level at becoming a grandma.

  10. The sweater is so pretty!! I've knit a few non-machine-friendly things for my grandsons and I tell my daughter I'm happy to launder them. I know she really appreciates having someone do the laundry - even if it's just a sweater or a blanket!

  11. Any little girl would LOVE that sweater! Your buttons are awesome too. I bet they will take super care of it and it will be lovingly washed by hand.

  12. The number of times I too make the mistake of buying yarn because I like it for the colour or feel only to find it is hand wash!!! But it will be worth it.
