Knitting News

As I mentioned previously, I finished the socks!  Sadly I am disappointed in the very light splotches that look to me like the dye did not take.  Originally they were going to be a Christmas present for a family member but now they will go to my husband.  He will love slightly imperfect socks!

I've been thoroughly enjoying the golden wheat shawl.  It's an easy addictive pattern that I know I will knit again.  I save this knitting for when I am 'zooming'.  I can talk and knit with this project.

My last project that has been getting a ton of knit time is the never ending gradient shawl.  Yup.  I started to read and knit at the same time at great peril.  As you can guess both the knitting and the reading are extremely slow going but I feel like I'm getting somewhere with the multitasking.  If I make a mistake I will be doomed.  This wool is slippery with the silk content and yet I continue to believe I am invincible.

That folks is how I live on the edge.  Some people skydive - me, I just have risky knitting behavior.

What have you been working on this week?

  1. I really do need to start a hat so I can give reading while knitting a go.

  2. I agree with you about the socks. It's a shame because the colors otherwise are quite nice, but I'm glad your husband will enjoy them. You do like to live on the edge with your risky knitting behavior!

  3. I think I had that same sock yarn. I didn't mind the white-ish patches though. I figured that was part of the dye scheme.

  4. I am knitting the blues... and I finally got to the point in knitting where I could read and knit!

  5. I like those socks! I think they are pretty. You are such a risk taker - lol. I don't know if I will ever get to the point where I can read and knit at the same time. I have to look at my knitting ALL the time! I'm still on the Hellebore Hitchhiker. I need to go stash diving and find some other yarn for other projects.

  6. I see what you mean about the dye job. It does look like there are spots where the dye didn't tke.
But that Golden Wheat shawl is just gorgeous. I'm working on ponchos and a blanket this week.

  7. You make me laugh. I m no skydiver either.....yet some would say that baring your soul on a blog is far braver a thing to do. I love that yellow knit. I want my Friend Karen to make it

  8. The white areas looks pretty good. They're almost like a distressed look.

  9. I love both of those shawls. There is absolutely now way that I could knit and read anything at the same time. I need to get back to knitting a sweater that I love, but unfortunately the gauge is off lengthwise and it is a fitted sweater. I don't mind the extra length, but I fear I will really mess it up now that I am at the armholes. I just don't know what to do. Enjoy your knitting.

  10. Life on the edge through knitting. Yes - that is as much risk taking as I tolerate. The shawls are coming along. I am sorry about the sock yarn disappointment. The socks will be warm and your husband is a good knitting spouse. Last night I finished my scrappy shawl. That was my knitting adventure for the summer. I cast on a hat for a Christmas gift for my daughter-in-law. She likes hats so that is fun.

  11. I love that you multitask. I like to knit multitasking with watching TV. I haven't dared to try anything as challenging as reading. Do you have any tips for keeping count while focusing on something else like a movie, a person talking, or a book?

    1. I recommend that the knitting be super super simple and mostly wool content so the stitches do not slip off accidentally.

  12. I love that you have risky knitting behaviour, that made me smile. I am sorry about the sock yarn that is weird and annoying to say the least.
