Because I Can

How was your Thanksgiving (for those of you in the USA)? I had a lovely Thanksgiving. It was just the two of us and I enjoyed the non-traveling and the cosiness of being home. I missed the kids and I missed my family. I had phone calls and zoom meetings and that bridge the gap of being together.

I've decorated my house earlier this year because I can. It's our third year with the 'smaller' tree because of Miss Holly the Cat and her inquisitiveness. So far she has not tried to climb into the tree. We have the tree bungee corded to the wall just in case. I'm one step ahead of her, or so I would like to think so.

Because I can, I am choosing to focus on creativity and mindfulness. Each morning I set an intention and think of what I want my day to be like. Sometimes I follow those intentions and sometimes I forget those intentions. The beauty of each morning consists of a brand new slated day - the newness and openness is a treasure.

Because I can, I repeatedly list what I am grateful for each morning. In the evening I do the same. I find that no matter how difficult a day has been there is something I hold dear to my heart.  I focus and expand and document my thoughts.

What are you doing for yourself today?

Our Thanksgiving was good and like you, we had to connect with family not there digitally. Have a wonderful weekend.

  5. As a divorced person, I am accustomed to holidays without my children, so I think this was easier for me than for others. My mom found out first thing on Thursday that she had tested positive for Covid, so that's the focus around here!

  7. Decorations bring light and joy into your life and that is always a good thing. I've been without pain from the kidney stone for 12 hours, so today I started my gratitude journal and that was the first entry in it!

  10. Lovely post! We celebrated with our daughter, my mom and my husband's recently separated brother. Like you, we missed the rest of our family but looked at the positives and were thankful for those who were able to gather with us. I was thankful for having less to cook, LOL! I have also begun to decorate, it will be extra fun this year since we are in our new home!

  14. Decorating your home for Christmas sounds and looks as if it brings you joy. Enjoy your home and all the twinkly lights. Great idea to make sure your tree remains upright.
