Weekends

How was your weekend?

First of all, thank you thank you thank you for the birthday wishes. My birthday was wonderful and filled with phone calls all day long from family and friends. Even though I celebrated with my husband and the pets, I felt loved by all. My pumpkin pie was delicious and the day was serene.

Over the weekend I started decorating for Christmas, why not? I'll put up the tree some time this week. It's been joyful to look at the decorations and feel the spirit of the holidays slowly approaching. Usually I decorate after Thanksgiving but since we are going no where and seeing no one the rules have been broken and I'm doing whatever I want.

On Saturday afternoon while sitting outside (OUTSIDE! in November) I received a beautiful birthday gift from my daughter and son in law. Polish pottery hand crafted, stunningly gorgeous. I have precariously set them out so that Miss Holly will not go near them, they're blockaded by other knick knacks. Even though she is three years old she sometimes acts like a kitten and I still don't trust her with my beloved possessions. I still do not set out anything my mother crafted.

I received from my husband an HP Sprocket (link is NOT an affiliate link, I purchased mine thru amazon but the price has since gone up). I love this little sweet thing. I can print tiny photos from my camera and the photos are stickers which is great for art journaling. Of course I printed Holly and Frodo first.

I am on the second sock of the last pair of holiday sock knitting and I started a sweater for myself.

  2. Your birthday sounds lovely. The Polis pottery is so pretty. What a lovely thoughtful gift. Miss Holly may never completely loose her kitten like ways. But that's is ok as she is such a pretty lady. Congrats on getting your past gift near completion. What sweater pattern did you cast on this time? Looking forward to seeing your progress over the next few weeks.

  4. Gorgeous pottery! Your birthday and the whole weekend sound wonderful. Saturday was so warm - no coat required!!! That sock is so pretty - love the yarn. I'm curious to see what sweater you are knitting for yourself and what the yarn is.

  12. I'm so glad that you had a lovely birthday! Our weekend was lovely because our daughter arrived for a visit after quarantining for a week in a nearby hotel. She had two negative COVID tests which made us feel very at ease. It's good to have her home for a few weeks, we hadn't seen her since last Christmas!

  15. Happy to read you had a happy birthday. I'm envious at all the knitting you're getting done. I'm not as enamoured with my sock WIP's as I used to be, but I do want them done. I'm thinking of going back to the cuff-down technique because it's faster, although, I'd have to refamiliarize myself with it again. I love toe-up but once I hit the heel parts, I start messing up.
