Around Here

Around here there is a lot of snow - I love it so! Today there is a fresh dusting to soften all of the landscape. We managed to go for a walk yesterday after almost a week of not walking due to the weather. It was either too cold or a snow event was happening. On the days I cannot walk, I try to exercise in the house, it's not the same but it's better than not exercising at all.

Around here the haiku challenge is chugging along. I've been having fun thinking and writing. I decided to do some sketching or artwork on each entry. My sister is doing this haiku-a-day challenge with me as well, it's nice to have company.

Around here whenever my husband or I have a zoom meeting in the studio room, Miss Holly loves to attend as well. I don't think she knows there are real people on the zoom. She doesn't like people and yet she gets so excited when the voices are talking. She either sits and stares (like the photo below) or she struts in front of the the computer just to make an appearance.  Look at her long whiskers!

Around here I have not started the color work of my new sweater. After my repeated attempts at casting on during a power outage in the dark, I quit once I was successful. Today is the day - and I hope to update the project page on Ravelry as well.  My to-do list is adding up and I'm doing my best to fill my days with joy.

  1. Your positive attitude helped me a bit when I woke up and found two more inches coating all of our carefully shoveled surfaces! At least it's not much and I am glad that I had at least one day without shoveling this week. Holly does look quite attentive as she attends her meeting!

  2. I was in a Zoom meeting last night and the host’s dog kept climbing all over him. It was pretty funny. Exciting to be casting on a new sweater. Happy Friday

  3. Love all the colors for your latest sweater and look forward to seeing your yoke progress (maybe pictures next week??). And Holly! She could become a celebrity (if she isn't already) - so funny how cats pay attention to voices (and other noises...some of which I don't even hear!). We had some flurries this a.m., but nothing major. Fletch has a doctor's appointment and I'm running to the store to get a few groceries. Enjoy the weekend!!

  4. Love the colours you have chosen!!!

Oh, these zoom calls and animals. I'm dreading today...taking a continuing ed session for the photography judging program I'm in and I just know Shira is going to show out. She's been perfect all morning saving up for the 'show'!!!

  5. Holly is a gorgeous lady. Too funny about her loving the zoom meetings. With all the snow and freezing weather, does your swimming pool freeze over? Your snow photos make me homesick for PA and the winter there.

  6. Oh my word, THAT FACE! Holly seems shocked that there are "people" in her house. LOL

  7. Those yarn colors are very pretty together. I hope you can get the colorwork going this time. My daughter's dog can't figure out Zoom meetings or FaceTime either. She gets confused with the voices. Miss Holly is beautiful. We are expecting more snow on Sunday after 12+ inches on Monday. I don't want any more snow despite how pretty it is.

  9. At our choir meeting yesterday, I was surprised how many cats attended, only one dog though, and that dog was bigger than at least 3 cats! Looks like you're starting another nice project; have fun with it. No snow here except in the mts., but we do have an abundance of rain>

    1. The choir "rehearsal" was on Zoom, of course. It's kinda hard when you can't hear your fellow singers!

  10. I'm so happy that you are enjoying winter and glad that you and your sister are enjoying the haiku-a-day challenge. It's always more fun to have others you know participating in challenges together. I'm so worn out, I wish I would have joined your challenge instead of mine lol. Your posts are always so nice and calming. Of course I love sweet Miss Holly. Kitties are the best!

  15. My neighborhood is finally dug out enough for me to be able to take a walk today but there are mountains of snow everywhere and we're due for more tomorrow.

I love the colors you chose for your sweater and the haiku challenge seems to be going well. I can't wait for you to share more.

  17. I love the idea of a Haiku challenge! (and I am really looking forward to another dose of Amanda Gorman at tonight's game! Who ever thought that poetry and football would be companions!)

I hope your colorwork has begun... my favorite thing in knitting! :)

  19. LOL, Holly! That's what Minnie does too. The 13 yo's classmates get all excited. Once her PE teacher asked if her cat was going to join in on the exercise.
