Wintry Goodness

This past week has been a snowy one, I'm not complaining, just letting you know that every day is a snow event day around here. I've worn my snow boots probably two weeks in a row now. Even though it's wintry goodness, there are signs of spring. The days are longer, the mornings are beginning earlier than ever. I hear birds singing when before there was silence.

I started another art journal, this time in the A5 size (Stalogy 365 days notebook). The paper is thin and I'm hopeful that the paper can handle a bit of watercolor. As a true notebook fanatic, I have many that I pick up and write in. Journaling has been helpful with my thoughts, feelings and sorting out my days. Writing or sketching also stretches my creativity.

I worked more on my cowl this week and have high hopes of finishing it over the weekend. It's doable but will I do it?

Holly came out and graced me with a howdy do once this past week. I love how she just sits and stares at me. Frodo was under the ottoman fast asleep (snoring too). So she knew she was safe. After she stares for a bit she goes and takes a nap upstairs.

  1. Holly's pose is the ones our cats assume when it is noon (treat time!) or 5 pm (dinner).

  2. I, too, adore journals...and have many lovely handmade leather ones that for some strange reason I don't want to use until I find just the perfect thing to journal in them. I'm sort of sad I didn't dedicate one to the haiku project a friend and I have been doing for nearly 6 months. I guess at the time I was afraid we'd write a couple then quit, but it's become quite the morning routine.

Your cowl is beautiful...and will be a cozy knit probably in the house as well as those outdoor treks. Surprisingly enough, it looks as if we got almost as much snow as you have...I think they said total we got nearly 9-12", and I'm LOVING IT!!! although a bit more cautious than I used to be. A good friend fell yesterday and had to have her leg put back together with plates and pins---all while taking photos outside. Never knew photography was a dangerous sport. Stay well, friend!

  4. Every time we get snow I think of everyone who has snow for months at a time. Having lived in temperate climates my whole life, I am not sure how I would hold up but art journaling and knitting would certainly help.

  8. Journaling is one of my greatest joys too. Your art journals fascinate me. My artistic talent does not show in drawing or painting. Your snow pics are so pretty. What a lovely view you have of it. Does Holly ever jump in your lap for love? Or is she an aloof cat? Have a glorious weekend.

  9. Holly is such a pretty being. Aren't you glad you rescued her? I think Frodo is glad too, though he would never admit it - LOL. Your cowl is looking so nice. I'm anxious to finish the section I'm on and do the smoking stitch which is new to me. I wonder if I should practice first? It is snowing here again now. It's February, that will happen. But, like you, I have noticed the birds singing, the longer daylight hours...little things that add up.

  10. Sweet cat :-)) You knit a wonderful pattern ... I love it.
We had 4 weeks of snow and now everything is thawing away ... 8 degrees today and spring should be here next week ... joy, yes... :-)
    Warm regards to you.
I wish you sun and warmth

  12. Your cowl is looking lovely! And, yes... it was so snowy, sleety, super cold over here too this week. A wintry February makes me think of spring!

  13. Love your cowl > Love that kitty tail wrap around the paws. Fiona did that all the time. No Zachary's Bo does it too!

  14. Looks like Holly is sending you a message! Ginger does that, too, especially when she's hungry. That is going to be a beautiful cowl. Did you share the name of the pattern? Our snow is almost gone, and the rain has returned!

  15. I love the peeks at your art journaling. I enjoy journals and notebooks but try not to get to far ahead of my self. Is that Maple Leaf journal handmade? It is lovely. The stitch patterns in the cowl look as if they make a beautiful and fun to knit project. Holly looks so grown up.

  17. Holly looks so grown up now. Great texture your cowl has. Yeah, I've been noticing more bird presence and chirping. I used to love falling back an hour but by the time I sew, it's dark so that's been a little frustrating especially if I take pictures for IG.
