Weekends

Right now I'm sitting on the couch with Frodo by my side as he snores while snuggled under a blanket. I love his haircut so much but he's sensitive to the slightest chill after his beauty treatment. How are you? How was your weekend?

The sun is shining brilliantly and I'm loving the birdsong I hear each day. Spring is coming, I am ready.

My weekend was nice and I finally found the blooming snowdrops on our walk. This patch is from a different road, the other patch on the other road either haven't come up yet or a fallen tree has smothered them. I'll keep looking. I did see some daffodil greens sprouting up as well.

We walked both days and each time it was a bit colder than the last time. As long as the sun is shining the walks are enjoyable.

I'm making steady progress on my pullover and I'm within an inch of the ribbing of the body of the sweater. I do love miles of stockinette stitch.

Saturday afternoon I read all day long and loved being immersed in a story. Whenever I'm in that immersed mode I forget about the news which is nice. I finished reading Cilka's Journey by Heather Morris. The story was based on a true story and I highly recommend the novel. I've read now two WW II books and am switching to Stephen King's book, The Outsider.

Last year and so far this year I'm dabbling in all the genres of fictional writing. I'm usually interested in literary fiction but stretching to other genres seems to carry me to other fantastical places and entertains me.

Sunday was mostly chores and admiring my freshly clean house.

How was your weekend?

  1. Oh, reading all day! It's been a long time since I've done that. I agree, it's great to read other genres. My reading is all over the place and I love that. My weekend was fun too. Got a lot of work done in the garden and had a nice phone call with one of the girls.

  2. I like the Thoreau quote - so true. Glad you had such a nice weekend. We did too. The kids were over Saturday for dinner. I did a little (very little) knitting and a little (very little) stitching. Overall, a nice weekend!

  3. I had a nice weekend, but one that was busy with chores. I did laundry and cleaning in NJ, then traveled to MD and did laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping here. I'll be glad when my chores don't have to be done twice!

  4. I started a new book last night that might just break my fiction hiatus! And I finished my second pair of socks. We had a lot of rain so it was more inside than outside time this weekend.

  5. A blessed weekend here. Some knitting, crocheting, Mass, laundry, exercising and TV with my husband. Lots of sunshine too. You need to make Frodo a post haircut sweater. I could see him in an argyle lol.

  6. A whole day of reading sounds like heaven! Our weekend was mostly packing and moving. It feels good -- especially when I put stuff in the Goodwill box!

  7. Glad you have been able to get out and enjoy your walks. Reading all day sounds perfect. I'm going to have to do a reading challenge on month this year, maybe in the summer when it's too hot here to get outside. We've been working on spring clean up in our yard last week and over the weekend. I love that quote at the end. Have a beautiful week!

  9. Isn't it fun to explore new genres of fiction? I just finished a Fantasy novel this morning (yay for audiobooks while I tend to my housekeeping) and it was delightful (Girl, Serpent, Thorn if you think you'd like to try!) Have a great week!

  10. Mine was all about yardwork, and I paid for it last night waking up with a bad headache, but lots got trimmed, raked and sorted out so it is a start. Stay warm and safe.

  11. Sometimes I sit on the couch after cleaning up after OMAD in the kitchen and just read. Sunday I read in bed. You are flying through that pullover. The weekend went by too fast. I'm going to try to start a vest today. I have to refresh my memory on brioche knitting, Portugese style.

  12. All day reading - what fun! I am off to look up that book now and see if it one I should be adding to my reading list. I love relaxing weekends. Have a good week.

  13. This weekend was all about juggling our squirrelly March weather that is Arizona! The mountains have snow and it’s so pretty but we’re looking at 84 for the coming weekend! I’ve wrapped up the major purge and clean in my office and I’m truly giddy over the results. We enjoyed dinner out at one of our favorite Italian restaurants on Saturday, Church on Sunday and then a lovely drive. Your sweater is so pretty and I’m enjoying watching your progress!

  14. I am enjoying your peeks at Spring. We slid back to cold and rainy this week but that is ok too. It makes knitting a blanket a good idea. You are making good progress on your pullover. It looks pretty.
