Take for Granted

I'm amazed at how much I take for granted in my surroundings and my life. I live in a small rural town and my husband and I take the same daily walks down two of our adjoining roads. You might say it's a 'same old, same old' way of living. I thrive on sameness, honestly the more mundane my days can be the more content I am. I eat the same breakfast every day (cheerios)!

This week we put a pause on the Great Decluttering of our house (yay) and ventured to towns that are close to us. We sat on a bench and watched geese and goslings playing by the river and we picnicked outdoors at a park near a beautiful covered bridge. This particular bridge is retired from car crossings and filled with picnic tables.

We took Frodo with us who was thrilled to be exploring new places. His nose went into overdrive trying to decode the information. He thoroughly enjoyed our outings. No matter where we go with Frodo, there is someone who stops us on our excursions and tells us about their schnauzer growing up and how wonderful their schnauzer was. Oh Frodo, you are a brilliant breed and you are wonderful.

The Great Declutter is resuming over the weekend. I enjoyed the pause of rummaging through my collective stuff and getting outside in fresh spring air and witnessing the beauty of Mother Nature. I have lots of photos and hope to paint some pictures inspired by what I saw this past week.

I also know I need to shake up the routine of my days to appreciate my surroundings.

Life is Good.

  1. This is delightful! It's great to work hard and declutter, but taking such a lovely, different break allows you to get back to things and make more progress. And the weather certainly cooperated!

  2. Looks like such a lovely area and I like the bridge with picnic tables! I am similar, I like the same old same old too, and enjoy being at home with my knitting, books, and things that are comforting and familiar. It is such a nice time to go for a walk to go to a new area and spend time outside. Have a good weekend!

  10. What a nice getaway for the day. I need to do more decluttering around here, then actually donate the stuff instead of having it sit in a closet in big plastic bags. Hope your weekend is great.
