Knitting News

This week I've been working on two projects but both of them are slow going. For some unknown reason my left wrist is hurting slightly, not sure why, so I am scaling back the knitting just in case that is the reason.  The socks are for my husband and I am half way to the toe decreasing. I wasn't sure what this color way would look like but it's a fun bright color way for these winter days.

Next up is a feather and fan blanket from deep deep stash out of wool-ease. (I suspect that my wrist hurts from that since it's NOT 100% wool). For some crazy reason I wanted to start a blanket out of the yarns I moved to this house especially yarns that are in the stash for almost twenty years. Feather and Fan was my mother's favorite knitting pattern so whenever I work on this it reminds me of her.

What are you working on this week?

Comments

  1. Feather and Fan is such a lovely pattern. That blanket will feel cozy. Love the socks for your husband - great colors in that yarn. Hoping your wrist feels better soon. I'm stitching, knitting on socks and reading some great books! And, of course, working (when I have to).

  4. The feather and fan is very pretty. How nice to use up languishing stash yarn for such a lovely project. The colorway on the sock is indeed bright and cheerful.

  6. Beautiful work! I love the socks. It's been years since I made socks and I've been thinking about trying them again. I've got a second blanket square for memory blankets my friend group is creating for the children of a friend who recently died of cancer. Likely no knitting today, since it's a snow day and my daughter is home. Hard to count and pay attention when she's always talking! :)

  7. I have prepped all the veggies that will be eaten today and the rice is washed and waiting to be started in the rice cooker. Making tea and if you're interested, I started a new blog: With Book and Wool Here And A Spatula And Thread There.

  8. I made a Feather and Fan shawl and found that knitting it bothered my wrists. It is very pretty as a blanket.

  10. Feather and fan is going to make a lovely blanket.

I started a sock that is in a very similar color to the one YOU are working on. Pictures will probably be put up next week when I have some of the pattern done. I'm still just on the ribbing.

  12. The feather and fan pattern is a beautiful classic. I love that it reminds me of your Mom. I once knit a long rectangular shawl in the pattern - one of my first attempts at lace stitches and I still use it. Take good care of that wrist. I added a new project on bigger needles (for me) to help with an aching hand.

  13. I love Feather and Fan, but I'm not very good at it. It requires a level of attention that I'm not always up to. But it is a gorgeous pattern and the blanket is going to be an heirloom!

  15. oh ugh, I hope your wrist feels better because that feather & fan is beautiful ... my mom isn't a knitter, but both of my grandmothers were. We had a feather & fan afghan from my dad's mom on our sofa growing up ... I wish I knew what happened to it!
