Weekends

Oh boy was it hot this weekend.

Saturday I was all 'yay, it feels so nice' and by Sunday afternoon I had to put the AC on due to my hands and wrists swelling and aching. (The arthritis symptoms I experience are terrible in hot weather). Isn't it crazy that it was so hot? Isn't it crazy that too much of a good thing could be wrong?

The dogwood trees in our backyard are about to bloom, for that I am truly grateful. I had many at our old house and am quite pleased we have them here as well. I also have a resident Mr and Mrs brown headed cowbird couple that are adorable. Sometimes they eat at the bird feeder and sometimes they are standing on the ground eating stray seeds that have fallen down from the bird feeder.

I did a bit of watercoloring and sketching over the weekend. It was good to be returning to art in some form or another. My husband did major gardening work on Saturday then was achy on Sunday! I did my weekly laundry chores and cleaning the house.

I'm really into salad eating (BIG salad) which goes along with hot weather. I have high hopes I can walk Frodo this morning before the hot weather continues for the last day today, he is like me and dislikes being hot. By Wednesday, I will be telling you how cold it is outside and wintry like bemoaning the cold spring season once more.

I have no knitting photos, but imagine me languishing on that never-ending afghan. Optimistically I want it done by the end of this week. Let's see if that happens. I have one whole skein left and the tail end of another skein that is nearly finished. The end is so close!!

How was your weekend? Was it hot for you? How are your spring flowers coming along?

  1. No, our weather was not that hot. I wore a jacket when I walked on Sunday and needed a sweater when Fletch and I sat on the patio! But...it was sunny and beautiful. I think we are getting cooler weather again this week. I love dogwoods. There are a lot around here and in Valley Forge Park, but we have never had any luck growing them on our property!

  3. Usually we get your weather fronts a day or two later farther east, but it was a lovely weekend here (in the 60s), and the predictions are pretty much the same for the next ten days. I do hope your weather cools down a bit (but not wintry) and you can get outside and enjoy those dogwoods.

  4. The heat is here! Getting close to triple digits this week. Although our evenings are still nice and cool. The heat affects my RA too. Most other RA warriors say the heat is their friend. Not me.. I thrive in cold weather.

  5. Hmm hot, we don't get really hot days here at all! Perhaps you should come and live where I live! Still very much jumper and socks weather here, north winds are making it cold despite the sunshine. It sounds like you found lots of lovely things to do despite the weather. Hope you have a lovely week.

  6. We had the best weekend weather-wise in weeks! But today it's quite cloudy and will probably rain. I love dogwoods, too; some are out nearby, but ours are taking their time. Good luck on the afghan; I have 3 quilts to finish and just can't get motivated.

  7. I was in California this weekend and the weather was beautiful. High in the low 70s. Back home today to cloudy and in the 50s. I miss the warmer weather. I hope you finish that afghan soon.

  9. We had those two hot weather days Friday and Saturday and then back to refreshing coolness on Sunday. Today I was thrilled that the wind was just a breeze and not a gale. Your daffodils are pretty. Hang in there on the never ending afghan. The finish line is near.

  10. The weekend was so great on Saturday with 80s. We opened every window and did a bit of yard work. Sunday was back to night freezes, so I was happy I hadn't put out my potted roses yet.

  11. I hope the weather settles to a more comfortable temperature. It's been sunny here in the UK but a bit chilly. My husband says it's lovely and warm but it's too cold for me. Lovely sketching Cx

  12. Oooh yay watercolours! So nice to see your paintings! Our weather has not been as warm as yours but we've been blessed with some dry/drier days which have been welcome after a long, wet winter.

  14. I don't remember the weather that particular weekend, but we are slowly warming up here in my part of the Bay Area. High 70's with wind today and then stepping into the 80's that'll last to next Wednesday. Sorry you had uncomfortable swelling but glad to see you were able to watercolor and journal.
