Weekends

Good morning! I hope all of you are having a fine weekend. I'm popping in to do a post since tomorrow morning I'll be busy visiting my dad and my step-mom.

Earlier this week, we went to London Ontario to visit his mom. We stayed at the nicest hotel named the Idlewyld Inn and Spa. Our room was perfect and everyone we met was kind, friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay there again whenever we are there for a visit. We had a nice time with his mom and took her about town doing what she wanted to do and eating at restaurants where she wanted to eat. I think we made her happy.

We had nice weather going up and back, but sadly on the way home a major highway was shut down in Canada due to construction and they didn't give detour information. Our US phones act like they are gasping for air in Canada when they try to use the satellite.  The navigation app on my phone used up most my battery, but we did find an alternate route, got back into the USA. My phone breathed a sigh of relief.

I was ever so happy to be home and to pick up Frodo from the kennel.

Yesterday, Frodo had a major stomach upset so we had to find a vet (luckily we did not use the 24/7 ER vet hospital with a 4-7 hour wait time). I find it bafflingly that I live near a major city and MOSTLY all vets are closed on the weekends, the extra challenge is that it's a holiday weekend. It's near impossible to find pet care. However, I phoned place after place and successfully found a vet hospital with an open appointment. (I was so grateful!!!) He has meds and we are back home. I need to call today and touch base with a few more questions.

All I've been doing is cleaning carpets...ugh and sanitizing everything. We are both missing lots of sleep as well. Our fingers and toes are crossed that today is THE day for some health improvement for him. Poor little one and poor poor us. I'm running on empty.

How was your weekend?

  10. It sounds as if you had a lovely weekend, with the exception of Frodo's major stomach upset. Poor little guy. Hope he feels better soon!
And I have to say that I would have been panicky on the trip back to the States from Canada. Glad you found an alternate route and made it safely home.

  12. Poor Frodo. I sure hope he is feeling better and things are getting back to normal. I'm thankful our vet has Saturday hours. The Inn in Canada looks lovely! I would have had to book a massage!! Glad you were able to find your way back to the US!
