Daily Rhythm

How are you all doing? Over here, summer is showing off with all the flowers blooming. I cannot get enough of my hydrangea bush, gah. Our butterfly bushes are starting to bloom as well. I might not like the heat and humidity of summer but I do like the flowers.

My first summer session classes have ended and I have a two week break before the second summer session starts. I'm loving the rhythm of my days during the in-between time. I'm reading a lot and getting little jobs done around the house. We will have a house full in a couple of weeks when all of my children come to visit. This time around, I am pacing the chores so I do not slam myself with doing everything the day before they arrive. Future me will thank past me for this.

We had no electricity for one hour the other night and I sat and wondered why I am so committed to being tethered to the internet. I have no answers but I did question myself endlessly. The electricity came back on and I forgot about my reflections until I wrote about this right here right now.

I rearranged my art supplies (again) in the greatest of hopes of sketching or painting. I also have grand plans to eat from the freezer for a week to thin out the foods in there. I will let you know how all of this goes.

Have a great weekend!

  1. It sounds like you are having a very nice summer! I do feel cut off somehow if our power is out, but it's not just the internet - I can't cook, do laundry, or even see to read or knit without light. Electricity is important!

  2. I like your stack of books - they look interesting (I remember the Baba Yaga stories from when I was young). I'm with you disliking the heat and humidity of summer but enjoying the flowers so much. How exciting that ALL your children will be with you in a few weeks - that will be such fun!! Have a wonderful weekend.

  5. The flowers are very beautiful this time of year. It is so nice to have the vivid colors. Smart hostess to set a slow steady pace for chores. Enjoy your weekend.

  7. Your hydrangeas are gorgeous! I'm not sure mine is going to survive. Something is eating it at night and each day it's slightly smaller and less healthy looking. We are eating out of the freezer too, mainly because it had gotten so full, the door barely shut. As for power outages, I enjoy them, as long as they don't last more than a few hours and they don't occur at night and wipe out my 'sleeping fan'.

  8. The husband is going to be out of town for a week so we too plan to empty the freezer and eat creatively.
