Knitting News
Good morning! How are you doing?
We are in the deep freeze and it's so cold that schools are closed which includes the daycare our grandchildren go to each day. We have been babysitting while the parents go to work.
I have been busy knitting many projects. First off is the mystery hat above. My son started knitting this over 10 years ago and never finished it (he had two inches done). When they moved here, he gave me the unfinished hat. I am not making a Ravelry page since I cannot remember the yarn (I think it is old Malabrigo...). However Simple Moss Stitch Hat is the pattern! Of course I gave him back the finished hat. Oh and yes, we have the same knitting gauge, it's genetic!
Next up is a cowl started for me! My sister gave me this mini skein set for my birthday and I'm have fun knitting a simple cowl while watching TV.
Last but not least, I started another musselburgh hat for me. I love this pattern and how warm the hat is during extreme cold temperatures. Also once I finish the increasing, the knitting is meditative because of the endless stockinette stitch. I love it so!
I started reading Tom Lake. I haven't made much progress since the weekend because of the daycare closing and the grands being here in the house. Once the cold snap is over, I'll be reading once more.
What are you working on this week?

That is so funny a bout you and your son having the same knitting gauge! The moss stitch hat is so pretty (but I dislike knitting moss stitch). Your cowl and Musselburgh look good as well. It's the perfect time to have wool in your lap. Have fun with the Grands!!
ReplyDeleteI also am a bit astounded that you and your son knit the same gauge! That is insane!! The moss stitch hat is lovey but I am with Vera, it is not a favorite stitch pattern but it looks so great in that hat! Enjoy Tom Lake!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could do multiple things while knitting! LOL! I can't stay on task if I try!
ReplyDeleteI love the hat.
ReplyDeleteThe hat is so pretty...love the color. And the other two projects also are being made with beautiful colors of yarn.
ReplyDeleteThe hat is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool you knitting a hat your son started.
ReplyDeleteA son that knits, even a little, is so wonderful. The hat is a very pretty color. How nice to have two new projects.
ReplyDeleteI hope to knit a musselburgh hat this year. I love a meditative knit. Our schools have been closed all week. It will be interesting to see if they will be open on Friday.
ReplyDeleteReally like the yarn of your sons hat. I keep looking at the musselburg hat pattern. I have family living in Very cold country and think this might be a nice little gift to make for everyone in their family. No need for here here in my neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteLove the hat. You are a good mom to finish it...seed stitch hurts my hands with all of the back and forth. It looks great! I love the color of your cowl...such a pretty brown. I have not made the M...hat yet but it's in my list.. You have made a lot of progress on all of your projects.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to learn how to knit. Must be nice being able to knit things for family and the joy seeing them wear it.
