Happenings

Good morning! How are you?

Boy did this week fly right by and now it's June? How has this happened? All of a sudden it's late spring and there are hints of summer. I dropped into Whole Foods quickly and spontaneously bought a mini watermelon and was quite surprised it was yellow inside when I cut into it (I did not read the sticker....). I do not like the texture and the taste was 'okay' until I ate a yucky piece (do I sound like a kid or what!).... Oh how I regret this purchase. Lesson learned, I must read the stickers.

I pulled out my color pencils and did a big swatching session. I'm hoping I will be inspired to create some art or at least try to create some art. After feeling unwell for so long I'm now starting to feel like myself and want to dive back into creative pursuits that I shelved. No matter how my health is I am capable of knitting and reading but any kind of art producing like watercoloring, drawing or sketching is not something I can muster. I'll keep you posted on how I do because it's going to be babysteps.

I started a shawl on a whim the other day! I haven't made a project page yet but I'm enjoying it's simple beginnings.

What have you been up to? What crafting can you do while having an illness?

  1. Nice start on the shawl (and nice color). I hope you can get back to painting and sketching - I know how much you enjoy it. I have not seen or heard of a yellow watermelon, but the golden kiwis are really good - a little sweeter than the green ones!

  2. Glad you are feeling better.

I've been knitting (and then unknitting) because apparently I can't concentrate for more than 4 seconds. LOL I am going to have a new month cast on later today with an iced tea and a lovely sit down on the porch.

  5. Never saw yellow watermelon before. I prefer the red ones. Nice start on the shawl. When I don't feel well, books and simple knitting are my friends.

  7. Hi Karen. I don't know if I could eat a yellow watermelon because my brain would be telling me that watermelons are red. lol My hat is off to you for giving it a go. I like the fact that you did the color swatches to get inspired into doing some art. I think maybe I should give that a try. I'm so glad that you are feeling better.

  9. I had a similar experience with a small yellow watermelon. The one I happened onto had very little flavor. When I am not feeling well, I can usually knit something simple. Occasionally I can't even do that and so I read something I've read previously and enjoyed. A shawl is always a good project. It's nice you have one on the needles.
