Yarn Along
I have been furiously knitting on my ugly, no wait, my "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" socks. When I bought this yarn a few years ago I loved the skein colors but upon knitting them up, well they're kind of not so pretty any more. However, the colorway reminds me of fall and crisp cold evenings and I know with jeans and shoes they will be fine. If the color progression was a longer I think my love for them would deepen!
Check out my shawl that I finished and posted about!!
My reading is exactly the same as last week, reading both Anne Lamott and Kate Morton and thoroughly enjoying both.
What are you knitting and reading this week?
Joining Ginny
What kind of yarn are you using? It reminds me of socks I knit a few years ago. I bought two skeins of yarn in the same colorway, same material (machine washable) but for some reason one sock felted when I washed them. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper...
ReplyDeleteThe yarn is trampoline stretch by skacel and I do love the way it feels, I like the colors but it's a bit too busy for me. Couldn't tell by the skein though :) Bummer about one sock felting and one sock not :(
DeleteThey ARE pretty! Very Autumn-like. And they look oh so nice and warm!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read another Kate Morton! Hahaha, to be honest the colours in your sock remind me of an old floor carpet my parents used to have upstairs :)))
ReplyDeletei need to check your color affection shawls out now!
That's always the risk in the crazy multicolored skeins- sometimes they don't knit up as... expected. What is the pattern? Am I seeing cables there?
ReplyDeletethe pattern is cookie A's Monkey socks, I've knit them many times and it's a soothing pattern!
DeleteI found some GREAT sock yarn a couple years ago....Steeler black and gold (even called Steeler....got it in Pittsburgh!) so got enough to make hubby some fan-socks. He looks like a bumble bee. Not good. You just never know! oh, well. you win some, you lose some, and some you just hide under your jeans!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I kinda like that colorway. : ) It reminds me of November. And, I bet they are going to be your favorite socks very soon! ♥
ReplyDeleteBut, what Ginny wrote today about stash yarn is so true, isn't it?
The colorway reminds me of corn fields in the fall. Love the new header. Thinking of buying some yarn to knit one of your cowls for myself this fall.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me a Daniel Striped Tiger! It looks like they're going to be very comfy socks and that is way more important the colorway. Just right for snuggling up or long walks with Frodo :)
ReplyDeleteThose socks are gorgeous. Looks like KeepHerKitty colors. Thanks for sharing these sock photos. I know it seems to be rather all scrunched together, but they did come out gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love your leafy header Karen. Oh - and those socks, *sigh*, just lovely. I really like them, reminds me of fallen leaves.
ReplyDeleteAr first glance it kind of looks like a calico cat. Maybe thats why I like them!
ReplyDeleteand that's what I named them!!
DeleteThey are very autumnal socks! And they remind me a little bit of the Steelers. :)
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of tiger fur. It's difficult to know how mingled yarn will knit up...I had similar results with my socks...but I've loved wearing them. I'm sure yours will be really useful. I like the pattern,
ReplyDeleteThey speak autumn for sure :)
ReplyDeleteThe color is not that bad, Karen. Are the colors supposed to be the Pittsburgh Steelers colors?
ReplyDeletethe yellow and black are steeler colors but I guess I wasn't thinking of sports when I bought them! They were in the sale bin for a reason maybe :)
DeleteThe colour/design definitely says cat to me. Pretty socks to keep toes warm.
ReplyDeleteExcellent reading choices.
Enjoy
they are the perfect socks for fall!! And I checked out your shawl.....so pretty and such a lovely shade of grey!
ReplyDeleteI think the color would look lovely on someone who wears warm colors well. Very lovely and cozy indeed!
ReplyDeleteI like the pattern very much! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think these look like a happy pile of fall leaves! I have started a few new books--I am reading Marisha Pessl's Night Film, and I just got Mason Currey's book Daily Habits, with the creative routines of tons of artists. Inspiring!
ReplyDeletelove. love. love. your new header, Karen. Fall in photos... and socks. ;) My knitting time is still quite limited, but I am working on my Boo Knit KAL. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeletethey do look just like fall! love the new header as well!!
ReplyDeleteYour socks remind me of pebbles! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteI like the color of your socks - and they look cozy and fallish to me!
ReplyDeleteJust saw on Ravelry that your yarn is called Tiger Stripe...good name! I love the Monkey pattern. How is the book? I've been thinking of getting it for my sis.
