Exploding with Ideas

I think I could eat a bowl of Cheerios every single day for the rest of my life.  Boring maybe but gosh I do love them so.  Today my daughter starts the two day Bar exam test....fingers crossed!  Around here the days have been mild, outside I inhale that coolness and embrace the chill in the air.

Remember a few days ago I said I wanted to finish a pair of socks.  Well, of course my left hand started to ache so I had to set aside that project and let my hand heal. My hand is fine now but I think to be safe I'll let it rest more, for some reason my dpn knitting is hard on my hands.  Using wooden needles has helped but still I get aggressive in the knitting.

I walk around day in and day out with ideas that pop into my head, visions of projects to be or maybe who should receive what gift that's been knitted by me for Christmas.  I'm exploding with ideas!  I dream of fingerless mitts or a cowl as the theme for the holidays.  What do you think?

What I love best about being a knitter is the expanse of patterns and inspiration available more so now than ever.  If I want to knit a cowl, within a matter of minutes I've gathered many patterns for my perusal.  How can the internet be so awesome and give me this information instantaneously and yet the same internet can steal away my time?  Oh the balance...

When the ideas are teaming and flowing over the brim of my mind, I jot them down-make notes and try to flesh out my budding creations.  Perhaps that lovely cold front that breezed through yesterday is the reason for this desire to handle some alpaca and wool.  Does it matter the why?  Whenever inspiration strikes, I frantically capture each one on paper with my favorite pen.

  2. I know what you mean about so many ideas. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by too many ideas, and have to stop searching Ravelry and just knit! Love your Maleficent stripes!

  3. Those socks are gorgeous...love the colors! I found myself also thinking of crocheting projects that I want to attempt yesterday when our temperatures never made it out of the 60's! This morning it was 51 at 5:30! I've got a few projects in mind...now is the time to start! Have a great day, Karen!

  4. I will say a prayer for your daughter! I know how anxiety inducing the Bar can be. My mind is going strong with ideas too. I've been cleaning out & organizing my yarn stash and I have so many projects in mind for all the yarn! Now if only the time would come. My Christmas knitting consists of socks for my mom & sisters. I tried mixing things up a bit last year and all three of them said "thank you, we love it" about the cowls. But all three also said "I could use another pair of socks when you get a chance please." So I guess socks are my traditional gifts from now on!
My hand has been hurting too...I think it's because of the cotton I'm using to knit up a dish cloth for a swap partner. So I haven't been knitting as much due to that....just in short bursts so I don't really hurt my hand!

  5. I am sorry your left hand is hurting and you're unable to knit. You did have me laughing out loud though with your "I get aggressive in the knitting". Brought a very funny mental image to my head. ;-) I do hope your hand feels better soon and I will keep my fingers crossed for your daughter!!

  7. I think I need to try wooden needles. I am still learning but the needles I use are so slick I find it hard to handle.

  18. Rachel is a smart cookie! No need to worry (but that IS our job as momma, right?!) Keep distracted....keep those knitting ideas swirling!!! :) (Love the cluck-bowl!)

  19. Good luck to your DD. May she shine! Ideas keep the brain firing. Your notebook must be bursting with good things to do and to think over. Cheerios and bananas or strawberries was one of my favorites for breakfast. I miss the little circles of joy. Who knows when I'll knit another sock. My hands no longer tolerate DPNs or any needle that small.
