Dazed and Confused

We've been having all the weather events this week.  Snow, sleet and rain.  Luckily, I like winter so I'm totally okay with the cold and the craziness.  My cold is still here, but it's nearly all gone.  Everyday I think, today is the day without any symptoms - I'm a positive thinker over all.  Seriously though, I feel fine during the day.  I had one gym session this week and my trainer said he was 'easing me in'.  Nothing felt easy at all, however, it was so good to be exercising.

Frodo and Holly are both dazed and confused.  Neither one knows what to think and what to do with each other.  The humans (us) don't know what to do either.  Sometimes we leash him, sometimes we don't.  Here is the truth:  Holly seeks him out after he is done torturing (barking at) her.  He will finally go under that ottoman to nap, we breathe a sigh of relief and then she goes and pokes at him, starting it all over again.  Kids!

My son in law LOVES his sweater.  As a life time long knitter, my greatest pleasure is to knit for people who are fantastic gift receivers and show gratitude.  He was thrilled the sleeves were long enough!  Gah - Such sweetness!

So you might be wondering what is on my needles.  Well, simple stuff - I have one skein of that red heart scrubby cotton so I'm knitting mindless dishcloths enjoying a free brain.  I read while knitting those, currently on Kindle The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny.  I'm a fan of her series.

I cast on this cowl pattern again.  I wrote this pattern years ago and it is available as the Balancing Act Cowl here on my blog  and here on Ravelry for free.  As I mentioned previously, I can wrap this cowl three times around on a cold blustery day, yet it looks wonderful wrapped twice on a not so cold day.

Even though we are knee deep in the winter season, I was day dreaming yesterday of day trips to do in the spring and summer.  I daydream every February imaging:  day hikes, picnics, and seeing more of our local area.  I have a list somewhere and could easily add more activities.  Of course, I'd be seeing my kids in their towns too.

I'm writing one day early since tomorrow is super busy. I hope you have a nice weekend planned and lots of knitting or crafting to keep you busy.

  3. I can see why your SIL loves his sweater. It fits him perfectly!
We are finding that kittenhood lasts quite a while, so it may take some time for Frodo and Holly to find their balance with one another!

  6. That guy is every knitter's dream! Excited and appreciative of being wrapped in tangible love! My list of "knit worthy" folk is a short list! Ha! Mostly, other knitters. ;) Your "kids" are precious. Glad you're back in the gym. I've managed to get back to my exercise program after an injury sideline. VERY happy to be back at it. Makes such a difference in how I feel. Have a great, busy weekend, Karen! blessings ~ tanna

  7. The sweater is still as impressive as when modeled by your husband. But I am glad to see at least your SIL has a head. LOL! Day trips, they sound lovely. I need to start that practice this spring/summer/fall. Force us to get out and about to see more of our new area.

  10. Sounds like Holly & Frodo are behaving like normal siblings now. :) How is that scrubby yarn to knit with? It looks like it would be miserable but I've seen lots of folks using it recently. Thanks so much for sharing your cowl pattern!

  11. I too love when someone appreciates and loves my knit efforts. That's a great photo. I need to do something to cheer up a bit. I have no reason to complain. Yet I feel a bit down. I think it is because Im trying very hard to lose one and half pounds and the scale is not budging. I know it does not seem much, but I amdetermined not to regain all the weight I lost 3 years ago. Wow. I shouldn tlet it affect me this much. RIght/

  13. It's nice to see Frodo and Holly sitting so close to each other, they are making good progress. I agree with Jeannie, tormenting each other is good, it's what siblings do! Have a good weekend.

  15. The sweater looks really good on him. Yay for fit, length, and high praise for it. I'm glad you're back in the gym. I started back today also with the iron and cardio; oh boy was I expanding. I have to take dose of IB right now; my backside, thighs, and hips are burning.

  18. I am glad to hear that your cold is getting somewhat better. There are so many people sick right now. Not been a good winter for that.

I just love your son-in-law's sweater. It fits him so perfectly, and the color is wonderful.

I looked at the Balancing Act Cowl pattern. Not only do I love it, but I think it is something I could do!!! :-)

Thank you so much for sharing!

  19. The sweater is very handsome on your son-in-law. There is something so soothing about garter stitch knitting. Enjoy Inspector Gamache. I added the cowl to my favorites. It looks like a good relaxing knit.

  20. It's so nice to meet you..I have come over from Lisa's blog. I too am a knitter so I really appreciate the sweater you knitted for your son in law; it's beautiful. Probably the main thing I like about winter is it gives me lots of time to knit and read. I hope you are having a great weekend...

  21. Glad to hear you are feeling better. I am sure the weather isn't helping it to leave, but I agree positive thinking helps.
Yay for the sweater being well received and fitting absolutely perfect on your son-in- law. That has to be the best feeling.

  22. Love the jumper, its such a pleasure when the gift receiver is enthusiastic about your crafting. Not come across Louise Penny but just looked her up and added the series to my list of books to try. Positive thinking is good and hope you are soon back to 100% wellness.
