Knitting News

Oh the knitting, or should I say all the non-knitting that has been going on.  I continue to improve with how long I can sit without back pain, and I continue to knit more each day.  However, it is not up to my previous standards.  I'm still slow going.

What is also an issue, is I've chosen some BIG projects that show little progress except for the hat.  When I have fast short projects on the needles, I wish for epic knits that take many skeins and hours.  So now I have all the epic knits and I'm wishing for a 200 yard project.  Sometimes I amaze myself at how I'm fickle I am with my knitting.

The Night Sky top is chugging along.  I love the endless stockinette and the feel of a cotton blend in my hands.  Right now this is the knit that I'm most obsessed about and spend the most time on.

Ah, the cloverleaf shawl sometimes it gets some loving but it's not often enough and when I do work on it the progress is hard to see.  I need to put marker clips in so I see what I accomplish each time I pick it up.  I tend to put in one repeat per day.

The Dingleberry hat hasn't seen one row last week.  This is a project that could be done in a week if I focused!  I still love the Dr Who colors and the squishiness of the wool.

Now for my son's blanket out of an acrylic blend.  I work on this while watching the Americans on Amazon Prime.  I like the overall pattern but I'm sad of the acrylic blend and the inability to block.  So the tiny garter stitch bumps in the pattern are getting all lost.  Also, knitting with black is devil's work if you ask me.  The wash and dry features of this blanket is what keeps me knitting along and the fact that it's a stash buster.

What are you working on these days?

  1. They may be moving along slowly, but they are all really nice looking. I'm finishing a pair of socks, and waiting for the yarn I ordered to finish my top - I got notice it's been shipped, so that's good news!

  2. All of your projects are beautiful, Karen. The black of the blanket for your son would be a killer for my eyes.

  3. Ha, I can relate! When I'm working on hats, I dream about blankets and cardigans, but when I was working on that big shawl, all I could think of were hats ;-)
I love all your projects. That blanket will be amazing. I love those colored specks.

  5. All of your projects are beautiful. I agree with your fickleness...when I'm knitting socks I long for a sweater or shawl. Now I've started a sweater and I just want to get back to socks. And, I'm not really that good at having multiple projects on the go.

  7. Two afghans made up of squares, and baby sweaters. I thought the square approach would make the afghans go faster. But you have to actually make squares for progress to happen. Who knew? LOL

  8. You're accomplishing more than you think. Even a repeat a day is very good progress as you have long rows to do. Summer is the time we slow down, stay cool and comfy, and should worry too much about making great strides. The time of more progress will happen when cooler days come.

  9. Each project is lovely in its own way. I love your Night Sky, and knitting your son's afghan with black acrylic is a true sign of motherly love!

  11. I love the colors in the Dingleberry Hat. For me ....it's socks, as usual. These are a little slow going. The yarn has frogging-fatigue and in places it is like knitting with HAIR!

  12. Oh My goodness. I dont like to knit with black yarn AT ALL. I finished kid mittens. I am working on my berroco yarn shawl, but it is hot and humid and i don't really feel it . Maybe I'll hop to my cowl tonight ...yes decision made

  13. The colors in the hat will be so cheery in cold weather. The other projects are lovely. I agree with Bonny - that afghan from black yarn is a sign of motherly love. I am knitting some Irish Hiking Mittens from a dark charcoal/teal/touch of eggplant and they are hard enough to see. I am hoping to finish one sleeve on the little baby kimono this evening. So glad your back is improving.

  14. I don't really understand. This is slow knitting? LOL You're doing great and everything looks fabulous. First and foremost, take care of that back. I struggle at times well and I know each pain is our own, but I just wish you no pain and lots of ease whether you are up or down.

  15. Is there a special pillow you can get for your couch for your back to help? I understand slow knitting but mine is mostly due to being a multi-crafter.
