Knitting News

The last cowl has finally dried and now I can post a photo for the three of them.  I'm only creating one project page on Ravelry.  These cowls are delightfully soft and lush.  100% Alpaca wool is something to feel in the hands while knitting.  Also, the alpaca will give a nice drape when the cowl is worn.

I know I swore off this pattern, but I have two more alpaca skeins that are begging me to make a fourth cowl.  I also need to make one more in pink for a holiday gift for my dog groomer/dog trainer friend (mother of the toddler).  You've been forewarned.

I started a new shawl this morning, yet another holiday gift.  I needed a super simple knit that needs minimal attention or notions in the bag for my work days when the toddler is napping.  I picked the spindrift shawl, which I knitted before and loved the pattern.

Last night, I started a hat with larger needles and hopefully I'll have a bit more common sense on sizing.  Love the red and gray wool together.

I finished this hat two days ago and was sad that it came out too small for the intended head I was knitting for.  I will save this hat to put in my knitting present box (yes I have a box of knitted gifts at the ready) or I will donate this hat.  I love how it turned out, but it's a bit wee.

What have you been knitting or crafting these days?

  1. By golly Ms. Molly you are on fire with FO's! My knitting has been a roller coaster with successes, stops, and on the back burner. I'm working with cotton for one and I am not a fan of that. Just found out today the brim is too damn big so I have to go down in needle size. I'm going to be knitting worsted weight cotton with a US 3 because the 5 gave me 18.5 sts/in rather than 20 per. Cotton is known to stretch. Ugh. Not my favorite WIP at all.

  2. You are so prolific, and I love to see all your FOs. Those alpaca cowls look delightfully soft and warm, along with the rest of your gifts. Your recipients are very lucky! I'm still working on Ryan's (late) birthday fingerless mitts, and them maybe I'll follow your example and do a little bit of gift knitting.

  4. Karen your needles must be on fire you are so speedy. Such a shame about the sizing of the hat the colour combination is a delight. Those cowls are lovely and I bet lovely to wear.

  8. Oh that photo with the cowls is lovely. It makes me want to knit something in neutral. Ivory, gray ... hmm.

  9. Just finished a shawl, I need to bookmark that one you are working on. Now I am working on the last sleeve for a baby sweater and then I have 2 more baby sweaters to do. But I want to cast on another shawl, this time for me!! Cause, I really don't have enough in the cupboard already. LOL

  10. I'll check out the spindrift shawl . I like a stockinette shawl, not garter. Some Chicago Bears fan would lOVE that hat. Perfect colors, their colors. I'm finishing a sock tonight.
FIreman wants a hat that goes farther down past his ears. Zach wants another hat. Al wants mittens....... :) It is good to be loved

  12. The cowls are lovely. I like most alpaca yarns - soft and warm. The orange hat is so cute. Someone will love it that is for sure. There is something so satisfying about using up bits and pieces of leftover skeins.
