Wild Dreams

Today the last of my company leaves when our son heads back to State College.  Our daughter and son in law left on the 2nd.  I promptly fulfilled my wild dreams of putting away the Christmas decorations.  If you are wondering, yes it was exactly as I imagined.  Today the rest of the 'piles' will disappear and I can finish up laundering sheets and towels.

I'm planning a big pot of turkey noodle soup for dinner.  My kitchen is going to smell good!

Along with tidying up my spaces, I've been catching up on paperwork and hopefully all of your blog posts by this evening.  Having a house full demands a lot of my brain space.  I enjoyed having my family here and I'll enjoy having some quiet down time to spend reading my books.  My knitting has been beckoning me as well.

I started back to work and had a fantastic time with the toddler.  She is such a funny girl and delights in simple games.  We had fun near her nap-time and her laughter was infectious.  Ah, the two year old is heading to preschooler age which is FUN.

Above is my engi sweater and I'm slowly making some progress in the fair isle knitting.  The lavender is NOT part of the sweater, that is a provisional cast on to be removed later on in the pattern.  I believe that lavender color is throwing off all the colors.  I should have used a neutral scrap yarn.  Live and learn.

Yesterday after more than 15 photos of me trying to capture the ever moving Holly.  I managed three good ones.  She seems to have bonded with me more because of her 'beloved' going to Italy.  She loves a pet and a 'peek' game.  She also knows the phrase 'Where's your mousey?  Go get your mousey!'.  Being a cat she sometimes gets her mouse (she has many).  I know she knows because of the way she swishes her tail and looks at me.

I hope you had a glorious week as well!

  1. You have had a wild time cleaning, doing laundry, and dispersing piles! Many of my piles and decorations are still waiting for me in NJ, so I look forward to my own wild time this weekend, putting it all away and returning things to order.

  2. She is a BEAUTY!

Giroux knows the word cookie! Do you want a cookie always gets a response. He runs to the kitchen chair and sits by the counter to wait.

  6. Having your house back to the quiet place you love is such a gift. Mylo knows some of his toys by name and will retrieve them to play fetch. The pictures of Holly show how very beautiful she is.

  7. Holly is such a pretty girl! and your sweater is going to be lovely. Christmas/holiday stuff is still up at my house and most likely will not come down this weekend - Fletch likes it to stay holiday-ish for quite some time. I'd like order...but that's not a battle I'm willing to pick right now. I just remind myself "all in good time." And then I knit some! Have a lovely weekend with your clean home and enjoy your soup - that sounds wonderful!!

  9. What great shots of Holly! I love the last one especially. Where in Italy is your sweetheart? Like you, I have been putting the house back in order after enjoying having all three of my girls (and one boyfriend) home for a few weeks. So much laundry to do! The Christmas decorations are being put away slowly, to ease the transition for me. : )

  10. You will surely enjoy having order restored to your home. I know I feel better. Thanks for the tip on the provisional cast-on color. I'd never have thought about it either but I suppose it makes sense. The little toddler on her way to being a preschooler is lucky to have you as a caregiver. Little ones are so delightful and refreshing - that is when they aren't tired and cranky.

  11. Enjoy your peaceful house, Karen! Love your Holly photos, too, and will be interested to see your progress on your newest project. Have you seen the Hillview Road cowl? It's a fun knit and a free pattern. Happy New Year!

  14. What a gem you are to your neighbor and her toddler, helping out especially when daycare can be expensive and when it can be hard to trust someone with your baby.
