Knitting News

Can you believe this is Ash Wednesday?  I cannot.  Time is flying by!

I finally decided on a fingering weight cardigan using more of my quince and co wool in my stash.  I fell in love with the delicate yoke detail and the simple edging for the body and the sleeve cuffs.  I cast on over the weekend and as you can see, I have a ways to go for some progress.

I am thrilled to have another sweater on the needles!

My socks are slow going but isn't the color way beautifully subtle?  I keep thinking that I can't see the colors change unless I knit awhile and then I see it.  Sitting and knitting in a well lit room helps see the colors as well.

I have three books going as the same time-

The first one is  House Rules by Jodi Picoult, I'm having a hard time getting into the book.  I fear the problem is reading this book before I fall asleep so maybe I'll be reading during the day to see if this helps.

The second book is A Quiet Life in the Country by T. E. Kinsey on my Kindle for my treadmill time at the gym.  I am all for a murder mystery and this book is a compelling read.  I'm thrilled this is a series of books (more reading!).

The last book is The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.  I've only just started this book so I have no opinions.  Many of you dear readers didn't like the book - so now I'm interested to read it and see if I share your opinions.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. Thank you for sharing all the books you're reading at once. I sometimes read that many or more, but the Kindle ones are usually for when I'm on the elliptical or treadmill. That blue is has your name written all over it, Karen. I like its soothing hue.

  3. It looks like you have projects on your needles for every situation and books to satisfy every mood! That cardigan is a lovely pattern. I'm determined to finish my Sockhead Cowl and have been dreaming about a springtime Hitchhiker.

  4. I do love that cardigan and you can never go wrong with Noro socks. They always come out pretty. Your books sound interesting. I have House Rules in my Goodreads queue. I'll have to read the reviews again. I'm currently reading The Morning Show Murders by Al Roker. I'm enjoying it so far.

  5. Oh, I’m excited that you’ve found a new mystery series. I love when I stumble on a series I like. I love the colors of the socks, you’re right, it’s a beautifully subtle meld. I’m stil working on a hat for my friend’s granddaughter, I’m slow as usual but it’s looking good! 🙂

  6. I love the cardigan you chose! I had a fun time knitting it last November and it's a great wear-with-everything piece .... and I'm not sure ... but I just left a GOOGLE comment on another blog. I'm gonna press "publish" and see what happens here!

  10. Oh your new projects are so pretty. Love the cardigan pattern. Now I'm going off to look at the T. E. Kinsey book - always up for a new-to-me series. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm reading The Library Book and really enjoying it and knitting on a Hitchhiker, some socks and F's cowl (which hasn't seen any action lately).

  15. How big are the needles that you're using on your fingering sweater? I'm in the middle of several pairs of socks and about to start on an unfinished shawl. Oh, and I'm in the middle of Becoming.
