Hopes and Dreams

I want to bottle up the beginnings of spring.  Every flower that blooms, the greenest grass ever and all the birds who are singing the mornings away.  Such sweetness!  Can you believe it's May already?  Golly time does fly by.

I've had a countdown to when my babysitting job has a summer break.  I truly do not want to wish away a month or so, but then again, I'm excited to reclaim two days a week as my very own!  I have been spending tons of time daydreaming on how to use my summer break.

I'm tempted to make a detailed list of what I'd like to achieve during my free time as well.  The best part is thinking about thinking about it.  Do you know what I mean?

The anticipation is nearly the best part of hopes and dreams.  It's like anticipating Christmas day, imagining everyone opening up their surprises, day dreaming about how decadent the day will unfold.  My summer break will be sweet regardless of a crafted detailed list.

Five more weeks!

My yarn order to finish the sweater is in a limbo state.  Quince and Co is relocating their warehouse and orders 'may be delayed'.  On one hand I'm a little disappointed that I cannot finish the sweater and be done with it.  On the other hand I love that my hands are tied and I am FORCED to take a break mentally.  This is a good thing overall.

As I stated on Wednesday's post, I'm knitting washcloths and the shawl.  Both are easy and relaxing.

Not only have I been focusing on my artwork, my husband has joined in the sketching daily with me.  We sit in the evenings drawing.  We are completely different in what we like to draw and how we draw, so no competition between two competitive people, ha ha.

Frodo and Holly continue to 'do their thing'.  Secretly I think Holly loves Frodo but thinks he's an idiot and is way too loud.  Frodo has impulse control problems.  Both are delightful and I'm glad I stopped on the side of the road and scooped up a nearly dead kitten.  A turn of events that changed everything.

In other news, my sister and brother in law are visiting us this weekend and I'm beyond excited for them to arrive.  I wasn't the best company over Easter weekend (due to what is now known as a cracked molar in my mouth that is no more - so so sad).

Today I'm free and easy, happy and hopeful.  My sister will be glad!!

  2. Such lovely spring pictures! Looking forward to a break is almost as much fun as having it. I promised myself a day off on my birthday and I'm constantly thinking about what I want to do (or not) that day ;-) Wishing you a great weekend with your sister!

  4. How cute your husband is sketching alongside of you. We have five and a half weeks until summer officially starts! I'm grateful that this week went by fast as it's always hard to come off of school holidays when your sleep schedule is off.

  10. I'm sorry about your tooth but glad it's fixed. I had the same issue earlier this year. Not a lot of fun.
I love making staycation lists of fun things to do, although honestly, most of the time I end up Netflix & knitting because I'm too lazy to put on pants and brush my hair. :) But Netflixing and knitting is fun too so.... Hope you have a great visit with your siblings!

  11. It will e a cold day in heck before my husband sketches with me. It's so sweet that yours is open to new adventures! The lighthouse is beautiful!
I knew that Holly and Frodo would find their way. I think animals are so much happier when they have an animal friend.
