Aniticipation

Yesterday I sat at my kitchen table with the back door ajar listening to the sounds of late summer.  A cold front blew through bringing in cooler weather and signs of fall.  I am giddy with anticipation.  Maybe I did grumble a bit about summer but overall I did my best to not complain continually.  I tried to appreciate the season my husband loves the most and the one I love the least.

We are easing into the season that doesn't disappoint visually.  Already leaves are falling and lining the roadways, the resident squirrels are madly collecting nuts,  bring it on.

While anticipating the fall season, I've been wrapping up some knitting projects.  I finished the scrappiest cowl last evening and made room for another cast on.  While knitting smaller projects, I'm mulling over another sweater to make for me.

I'm approaching two years of going to the gym faithfully ever since I strained my back muscles in 2017.  I feel strong and have more energy now.  What a difference it is to make health a priority and focusing on small measurable goals.  I've also made 'friends' at the gym and enjoy the community of belonging.

I'm anticipating:

pumpkin pies - wearing wool - wearing a jacket - and mitts! - homemade soups and stews - the coziness of an early sunset - planning some fall knitting - more watercoloring - being purposeful in my days and in my actions - end of summer festivals - peak fall foliage -

What are you anticipating?

  5. So glad to hear that your time at the gym has made you feel stronger. I love that you are so excited about the Fall arriving, it is nearly here and I am looking forward to its arrival to. It heralds a time of calm, of our woodturning stove, of cosy evenings as a family, of reading more, of knitting more, of resting and thinking.

  7. I just faved your shawl!!! love the stockinette ratio to garter. My kind of shawl.
I love summer and Fall. Seems summer started so slowly weather wise. I want more humidity and warmth. At least in the day hours. I have a few plants that grew well but no flowers came...still waiting. Im hoping to go to the CORN festival this weekend., nearby. Never have gone and it looks fun.

  9. I love autumn, but not so much winter. I love bundling up in wool, but only because it is the only way I can stay warm. It's not by choice! I'm anticipating the beauty of autumn colors and, sadly, surgery on Oct. 1st for my knee. In the long run that will be a good thing.

  11. Oh that shawl is going to be so pretty and the scrappy cowl is delightful. I'm anticipating the tastes of fall - pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger and homemade soups. Maybe some fall travel to see our kids. I'm with you - bring on the autumn.

  12. Autumn is my favorite month so you will have to post beautiful photos of it for me as there is no Fall here where I live. I am just anticipating temps under 90 degrees, that would be a blessing.

  14. Summer has flown by way too quickly here. Our sunny days are way too few, but we learn to cherish each and every one! Love your new cowl and the gradient shawl. What patterns did you use?
