This Week

This week the weather has decided to give me a much needed break.  I've been enjoying low humidity and mild temperatures that have been rare most of the summer.  I know this reprieve will end soon.  I've noticed some leaves falling, dare I hope that it is an early sign of fall?  I'd like to believe so.

This week I've been seeking peace and calmness in my days.  I love when I have a string of easy days where nothing is pressing on my mind, oh to bottle up that contentment! Then of course there are those days when everything is on my mind, I magnify their importance and maybe just maybe I am magnifying in error.  How lucky that every single morning is a personal reset to focus on what matters.

This is why mornings are the sacred time of the day for me.

This week my husband has put up netting to save the kale and the cabbage from cabbage worms.  It's a battle.  He'll be retiring next Friday and the duties and tasks are in multitudes until that day arrives.  The garden has taken a back seat temporarily.  We are enjoying (too much) zucchini, tomatoes and peppers.

This week I saw my RA doctor for a six month checkup.  Everything is find and good.  I have instructions on what to do if I have a flare since I am not allowed to take NSAIDS anymore.  She is a nice doctor.
This week the never ending gradient shawl is still going strong.  I might be on the last 12 row repeat or the second to the last.  It all depends on how much yarn is left.  I'm leaning towards the LAST repeat...I am only knitting on this while watching tv or doing nothing at all.  I do not want to make a single mistake!

I hope this past week was good for you!!

  1. I'm glad your doctor visit was a good one. That's always reassuring. Your garden looks great, and in my experience the cabbage worm battle is a tough and ongoing one. Congratulations to your husband and to you; I hope retirement is an easy and pleasant adjustment for both of you!

  12. Glad your doctor visit was a agood one, and that you like your new doctor. That's half the battle I think! Your garden looks great! Does netting stop cabbage worms? I think they are am inevitable part of gardening (and I can't stand them - I hate picking greens and then finding worms...worse is cooking them and then finding them....). That shawl is gorgeous Karen!
