Weekends

How was your weekend?

Mine was busy but a good kind of busy.  I am loving the soft signs of fall approaching.  The oak tree has been dropping acorns and I'd say they are a week behind compared to last year.  Some leaves are turning - not many but every morning there are at least two leaves in the pool.

Our son and daughter in law were in town for a friend's wedding.  I guess their friends were scrambling to change the venue and the plans.  Instead of indoor - it was outdoor.  The wedding list was hacked to a small gathering.  Such are the times!

Who knows what will happen to their own wedding in January.  I know they are getting married no matter what.

I was gifted the bridesmaid bouquet!  My daughter in law to be left it in my fridge and I placed them in a vase and put them in our bathroom which is a cat-free zone.  Holly would gobble these right up!  Today after blow drying my hair, I was blessed with a beautiful vista of flowers.  Maybe I should always have flowers in the bathroom.

The pool guy (husband) has only FIVE MORE DAYS of work.  Can you believe it?  I think we will be relieved when he hands in his keys.  He still is packing up his office and he has to clean out his lab as well.  I am looking forward for him to be stress free.  It's been crazy days since the shutdown.  He is looking forward to more music making, more art work, and reading for leisure.  He's signed up for a bike ride (50 miles?) and of course I want to go to some state parks.

I finished the gradient shawl!  I started a pair of socks for my zoom meetings.  This pair will be a Christmas gift.

Tell me about your weekend?

Comments

  1. What lovely flowers! My weekend was spent with a saw cleaning up downed branches and limbs from the storm last week. Thankfully there was no real damage, but it took us three hours, and then another two on the roof clearing the impacted little acorns out of the clogged gutters. I am glad that is all done.

  4. Your weekend sounded lovely. The flowers were an added bonus. I rushed around all week to ensure all household chores were completed and spent my entire weekend working on socks, an afghan, and cross stitch. A very crafty weekend was had by me!

  10. Such pretty flowers. I love it when they wrap ribbon around the stems. Yes to flowers wherever you like them. Another quiet weekend - hot and humid - so I walked early, watched the livestream of worship service, and knit a pair of mittens with aran weight yarn. It's a blog story I think. Now I know what I don't knit with size 8 needles very often. We talked to our kids of course. Best of luck on the last week of work.

  11. great weekend....and yeah for retirement!!! I know you all are going to enjoy it and take advantage of the freedom!!! So glad you got to see some of your 'people' this weekend. It's a tough time for sure. We're still waiting and hoping and praying for signs of fall...still hot and HUMID and things are still dying all over the yard from it, in spite of being watered daily. Have I told you lately how I hate summer??? (heehee...singing to the choir, right?)

  12. Congrats on your husband's retirement. Our weekend included a visit from our son. Always welcome in these troubled times. I am so grateful that my daughter's wedding was last year. She and her husband have been uninvited to 4 weddings this year. They thought they would be doing a whole lot of traveling as none were in their home state, but that is just not in the cards. Some of the couples have gotten married or will, but without the reception. One is planning (hopefully) a one year anniversary reception. Who knows what next year will bring. Autumn hasn't begun here as yet, but the cicadas are making a racket and the days are getting shorter. Enjoy your knitting and those pretty flowers.

  15. Beautiful flowers! That's so exciting that your husband is retiring. No matter how bad my fall fever gets, we are nowhere close to fall. We've had nothing but heat and rain. Good grief have we had rain! Our pool has overflowed every day for the past week and we are anxiously watching the river rise, slowly drop, then rise again. We broke a record for wettest August on the 8th of the month. I just can't believe how much rain we have had. Can't wait to see the socks progress. Happy knitting!
