Weekends

This weekend was perfect.  We did daily walks in our neighborhood and the fall foliage is at its peak, I love it. Along with fall are fall allergies which I am not a fan of but there is always a price for happiness.  A frost would be nice, don't you think?

I did a lot of reading and finished a memoir, Hunger, by Roxane Gay. It was sad and heartbreaking but a compelling read. I will definitely read more of her essays and books. I worked feverishly on my sister's black (black!!!) sweater. Golly, I wish I had the eyesight of a 20 year old. However, I finished the second sleeve and after all the pesky pick up stitches around the band that I hope will be completed sometime today, I will be sailing into easy 2 x 2 ribbing.

How was your weekend?

  1. Hi - I enjoyed reading about your weekend. You sure do live in a beautiful area. I love the tree-lined road. I know your sister will love that sweater. It looks so cozy and warm. I will have to look up that book you read. I enjoy memoirs. Have a good week. See you again soon!

  3. I read Hunger recently - hard story but good insights. I’m knitting with black right now. Just round and round but I do turn up the light

  4. Your autumn photos are so pretty. I miss having 4 seasons this time of year. I admire you working on the black sweater for your sister. I tried to knit black socks once and it was a killer on the eye sight. I am still waiting for our temps to get low enough during daylight hours to get out and walk. We are down to the high 90's this week which is an improvement from the 144 days of over 100.

  6. This is such a beautiful season. Are the colors more pronounced this year? I can't decide if they are or if I am just noticing them more. Either way, I'm enjoying them. We headed north and west yesterday and caught more color than we have at home. It was lovely!

  13. Your photos are beautiful Karen, the foliage is beautiful at the moment isn't it. Knitting with dark yarn is so hard now isn't it, I need really good light to be able to see what I am doing.

  14. I imagine that dark charcoal/black is a challenge to knit. The fall foliage is beautiful. Mother Nature is compensating us for 2020 with a gorgeous autumn. Quiet weekend which is the norm here.
