Weekends

On Friday I ripped back all of the short row shaping and stockinette knitting to the color work portion of the yoke sweater because I followed the wrong size (oops!). I'm happy to report I am back to where I was on Friday morning before the rip out session AND I am following the correct size this time, phew. I enjoy the humbling experiences knitting gives me.

My weekend was just like all the other weekends - quiet and relaxing. We were itching to have an outing so we went to the hardware store on Saturday afternoon, you know, living up the high life. They have a large decorating section that is fun to browse while my husband looks at boring tools.

We managed to get a walk in before the snow and rain arrived. I love winter but I am looking forward to getting outside more for walking and fresh air. So I guess....I'm ready for spring. There I said it!

The February challenge of writing a haiku a day will continue through March until I fill up the homemade bound notebook my sister made for me. She is continuing as well. It's been a fun challenge and I like how bitesized the project is and I enjoy the daily sketch that goes along with the haikus.

It's Monday morning and it is an ultra dreary day outside,  but tomorrow they are forecasting sunny skies. I am ready. More than ready, we had steady rain all day yesterday making what little bit of cleared grass area for Frodo a big muddy mess.

How was your weekend?

  1. It was a rainy weekend here, but my yard needed it. And I love how the tree branches all held drops of rain like little jewels! Your haiku book is lovely! What a beautiful memento!

  2. Sunny but windy here tucked under the Rockies. We did manage to get in a 3 M walk yesterday which was glorious! Looking forward to a week of forecasted mild temps. Your sweater is beautiful! Enjoy keeping up with your knitting adventures.

  3. I think our weekends were similar (minus the hardware store - lol...though I will confess to liking hardware stores). Rainy and grey. I'm ready for Spring too. And more walking outside. Glad your knitting is back on track!

  4. Your sweater is lovely and you got to knit some of it twice! I also like your Haiku project with your sister. Haiku seem like a great way to write some poetry and express yourself. Here's to seeing the sun tomorrow!

  5. That cleared road looks perfect for a winter stroll. I have read at least three other accounts of ripping back sweaters this weekend and I am finally at the point where I am ready to restart the bodice of a sweater that was growing too large and had to be unknit. Enjoy your week

  6. Glad you are back on track with the yoke sweater and glad you were able to get out and about a bit. I almost fainted when you said you were ready for spring! I'm ready for spring myself but looks like we are going directly to summer here instead (grumble). I love your beautiful little notebook. I'm glad you are enjoying it and continuing this month. Have a fantastic week!

  7. You did good on ripping and reuniting your sweater. Knitting does keep one humble lol. It was very windy and chilly here yesterday. We will be warming up a bit this week. Perfect outdoor knitting weather. We might get to see rain this week. I hope that happens. We are in an extreme drought here.

  8. Lots of knitting. Lots of tea. A bit of closet organizing and doing up some little fix-its that I always say ..... I'll do that a little later.

This weekend was "later". It feels good to have those teeny fix-its done.

  9. I just love the colors you are using for that sweater! The weekend was pretty boring. Except that the Fireman loved the day of golf, car racing and hockey . I can't wait for Spring.

  11. We had another quiet weekend but the sun was shining and the temps are moderating. My husband walked with me on Saturday and I went by myself on Sunday. He was doing something else in the garage. Those small outings brighten the days. I finished a pair of fingerless mitts on Sunday so that was fun.

  12. We finally managed a walk and a little trip out as the sun was shining, it was a real joy to be outside in the fresh air. Gerard and I have been having fun with writing a haiku, like you I have been putting them into my journal. Love the sweater Karen, it is stunning.

  13. Great colors on that sweater project of yours! I find short rows a bit confusing, but kind of like the German method. Your Haiku project is very fun, and I also love seeing your illustrations!

  15. A quiet weekend here as usual. We did go up to my parents Sunday for a quick, CNY lunch and so my husband could install their new WiFi extender. We wore masks even though my parents got their second shots the day before. Yay on successful ripping back; kudos to you on knowing where you were going up to.
