Knitting News

Good morning! I hope you're having a wonderful day.

Knitting this week has been pretty good. I started a Christmas Stocking for my grandson over the weekend. I successfully found the hand-written pattern that my mom wrote (photo copied by me so as to preserve her original writings) I believe the stocking pattern is from a VERY old McCall's or Family Circle magazine from the 1970's...or around there. It's a treasure! I also found my hand-written notes where I changed things up, let's hope I understand what I wrote.

My blue sweater is such a delight to knit! I zoom along in stockinette miles enjoying the simplicity of the design. I am over half way done with the body of the sweater. I also believe I have enough yarn but I'll know for sure when I get to the sleeves. I'm usually optimistic during this part of the knitting. Anxiety will build during the sleeves if there is any worries of yarn shortage.

What are you working on this week?

  1. What a gorgeous shade of blue! So pretty. I'm knitting a dishcloth and that's it. Time to cast on some other things!!

  2. Socks, the never-ending scrappy blankets, and contemplating casting on a Flax Light. We shall see.

I remember knitting quite a few stockings from a Family Circle of Woman's Day magazine. Mine didn't have a picot cuff though.

I'm trying to find my knitting mojo. There is something I really want to finish before we go back to Curaçao.

  7. I love it when I have two projects that I can switch between. Right now I'm working on a sock and a garter stitch shawl ... it's a toss-up which one I need to pick up when and I like that!

  8. I love both projects, Karen. I am swapping my time between spinning and knitting my marled sweater!

  9. Wonderful colours for both of your projects. I hear you on endless rounds of stockinette, sometimes that is the perfect knitting to have on your needles. I cast on a sock last week, finally not doing any fundraising knitting, for a bit anyway......

  10. That blue sweater is coming along nicely. We've had cooler weather this week and I felt like wearing a sweater last night while out.

  11. You have two lovely projects going. I knit Christmas stockings from a 1950's pattern that my aunt knit for me, my sibs, and her children. I love that you are using your Mom's pattern. May you have enough yarn for the sweater sleeves. I just picked up the stitches for one sleeve last night on my blue sweater. Onward.

  12. Sounds like you're playing yarn chicken! Did you buy yardage according to pattern, or did you pick the pattern after you already had the yarn? I love the stocking, SO fun it spans generations!!
