Christmas Stocking

I did some fast knitting in the last few days. I started and finished this Christmas Stocking for our granddaughter and now my hands are sore. I know that my hands are the happiest when I knit with wool. When I knit with plant fibers or some acrylic yarns, I have sad hands. The stockings that I have made thus far for my son's house were made with cherry red wool that has since been discontinued. I faced the dilemma of ordering a replacement wool online knowing that red (and purple!) are two colors that computer screens can mislead as true colors.

A while ago, I spied redheart supersaver in THE red that I know is very close to the discontinued wool color so I bought lots knowing that my hands would take a beating. I cannot wait to see how close I  matched the reds.

(My hands recovered quickly!)

What are you working on this week?

  4. Cute! Now, you have to fill it with all kinds of baby goodies! Christmas isn't all that far off.

Sorry about your hands. I never used to have that problem, but sure enough ........same as you. I don't like plant fibers anymore. Well, I like them. My hands don't like them.

  5. You are one fast knitter! Love that stocking; it looks like it will hold lots of stuff. I am working on a sweater that I started a long time ago.... I also am working on a couple of baby projects for friends' grandkids.

  6. The stocking looks great and I'm glad you can get back to wool knitting now. Cotton bothers my hands too...and even linen. Here's hoping all the reds look good together.

  7. Very cute stocking. Red heart super saver is very harsh to knit with. I prefer 'I Love This Yarn' from Hobby Lobby. I use acrylic a lot because wool bothers my hands. What a pair we make.

  8. That stocking IS the perfect red ... and I hope your hands recover quickly! I'm still knitting plant-based fibers, but my NEXT project will be 50% wool ... and it will be lovely.
