Salted Caramel Shawl

Image
Good morning! I finished the second hitchhiker shawl of this summer season and am extremely pleased with the results. That pop of blue trim steals the show. Of course, I cast on a third hitchhiker shawl and this one will be the last hitchhiker shawl for the time being. I will then switch to full force fall knitting!! What are you working on this week?

I added that pop of blue yarn for the nearly finished hitchhiker shawl . I am so close to being finished! I did not knit in the car on the way to and from Cambridge, MA last weekend. I just didn't feel like it. Sometimes I do knit and sometimes I just talk to my husband and look out the window.  What are you working on this week?

Did you know this is the summer of 'do I have enough yarn for this project?'. I kind of like it because it gives me something to think about and provides an excellent opportunity to go through my yarn stash to solve the possible problem.  This is the second hitchhiker of the summer and I am 35 ish teeth done (I forget the count). I am going to start another one when this is finished. What have you been working on this week?

Weekends

Good morning!  On Saturday my sister and brother in law invited us for dinner but we did not play any board games this time. They had a busy day and wanted to relax after dinner. My husband has been joining me for walks because he has those stitches in his arm and is restricted in his activities, it's nice to have him along.  Now that the weather is getting hotter, I walk earlier and earlier to beat the heat. Frodo and I do not like hot and humid weather, but you know that about us already. I worked on the sweater that probably doesn't have enough yarn, but I do have a pretty good plan that I'm excited about. I'm over half way through the first sleeve, thoroughly enjoying my time knitting.  On Sunday I attended 7:30 am Mass enjoying the cool church (no AC!!). Once home, I blitzed the laundry chores and tidying up spaces. My husband and I have lunch on the back patio before the day gets too hot.  How was your weekend?

Hello! My knitting this week has been a bit different, I returned to the sweater that I'm not sure if I have enough yarn to finish. I have used two out of five skeins for the yoke and some of the body. I decided to stop working on the body and switched to work both sleeves with the same yarn. After the sleeves are finished, I will then know if I am running short of yarn. If so, I will stripe in another tan color of yarn to elongate the body. What are you working on this week?

As of last night, I have 22 teeth made and have many many more to go on this hitchhiker shawl . Since July started, I've been slacking off on the daytime knitting and only knitting in the evenings. I've been in a reading mood most afternoons. I do this every year and know that I will be energized to knit more when the autumn season approaches. What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are you all doing this fine day? I am so thankful that it's the day after July 4th and I will hopefully have a quiet evening. The past two evenings were noisy with neighbors shooting off fireworks. I am grateful that Frodo is hard of hearing and slept peacefully. I wish I could say the same for me (sleeping peacefully that is)!! I started another hitchhiker shawl as soon as I finished the last one. As you know, I work on this in the evenings while watching TV. It's the perfect project to have in the summer - mindless enough but interesting enough.  What are you working on this week?

Rosy Posy Shawl

Image
I completed this shawl yesterday afternoon and remembered to photographed it. I enjoyed this knit because of the ease of memorizing the pattern and the repetitiveness of the rows. This kind of knitting is meditative and therapeutic for me, also I can watch a TV show without too many errors. The yarn, Knit Picks Chroma was a bit splitty since it is a single ply yarn but the beautiful color changes make up for that flaw. I have started another hitchhiker and can't wait to see how this one turns out as well. What are you working on this week?

I continue to work on the hitchhiker shawl , mostly in the evenings while watching some TV shows. I have around 35 teeth already completed. Luckily for me, I have a second skein to get to the 41 teeth goal or maybe beyond? I'm thinking of making yet another one after I did through my yarn stash. This might be the summer of hitchhiker shawls. Something easy and portable.  What are you working on this week?

Good morning! Phew, all that baby knitting is behind me and I've been focusing on a super simple knit - the Hitchhiker . According to Ravelry, this is my third one but it definitely will not be my last. I usually work on this shawl in the evenings when I'm watching TV. During the day I've been cross stitching a baby birth sampler.  What are you working on this week?

Lilac Cardigan and Bonnet

Image
After some feverish knitting I have completed both the baby sweater and the bonnet within six days. I do love the speediness of a baby knit! I've knit this baby sweater so many times (fifteen times according to Ravelry) and the bonnet was my first time ever. I enjoyed the construction immensely, Elizabeth Zimmermann was ahead of her times. What are you working on this week?

Lavender Cowl

Image
I finished the Lavender Cowl a few days ago and placed it in the drawer for future cold weather (can you believe that it will be 90 degrees next week, honestly it seems too soon). I cannot wait to wear it. I thoroughly enjoyed knitting every single blessed stitch. Now that this cowl is complete I can fully focus on baby knitting. What are you working on this week?

I love when Frodo gives me that look that says 'you're in my space'. Too funny! How are you? How has your crafting been this week? Mine has been slow going but I'm enjoying my slow going progress. I'm savoring the knitting process. The above photo is my lavender cowl that I pick up in the afternoons for a few rows sometimes I read my kindle or sometimes I listen to a podcast.  The bottom photo is the baby blanket that makes steady progress each and every single evening if we are watching a show on TV. I love the repetitive pattern and how easy it is to pick up and knit. What are you working on this week?

I have three projects going at the same time and yesterday each one had a little bit of attention brought to them. First off is the sweater in the above photo. I am wondering if I have enough yarn and yet I keep knitting. Sometimes it's fun to flirt with yarn shortage. Next up is the baby blanket , I mainly work on this in the evenings and love every blessed stitch! My last project is the cowl that I've knit many times but only own two of them. The rest were gift knits. I love this project and I hope I can block it a bit wider than it's coming out.  What are you working on this week?

Green Blue Striped Socks

Image
Last night I finished a pair of socks for my husband. While I do like the striping sequence, I didn't like trying to make them 'matchy-matchy'. However I did succeed! He already has the socks in his sock drawer. What are you working on this week?

Good morning!  The sun was shining yesterday and hopefully today it will make an appearance as we reach summer-like temperatures. The seasonal allergies are crazy and I'm doing my best to ignore them. My knitting has been minimal but I have been knitting since returning home. First up is the the baby blanket for our granddaughter-to-be in a lovely soft pink cotton yarn from deep stash. I'm thrilled to be using stash instead of going out to buy yarn! (but I will be buying yarn eventually, lol) The next project that I am thoroughly enjoying is this sweet little cowl . This is a color that I do not wear and I made it a point to add it to my wardrobe. So pretty! The last project is a pair of socks for my husband. I am on the second sock and well, I am barely giving it any attention this past week but now that I am home and caught up with all the chores I was behind in, I can once again add some rows. What are you working on this week?

Seashell Shawl

Image
Last week I finished this lovely shawl that was in my knitting bag for almost a whole year. Yikes! As I suspected the magic is in the blocking. I love the simple design of a ribbing that slowly widens as well as the shawl looking like a seashell. A clever design. I just might knit this pattern again but I would go up a needle size or maybe two needle sizes. Knitting on size 3 needles made the shawl take forever!  Ravelry notes

Weekends

Image
How was your weekend? My weekend was relaxing overall. First of all, I tried really hard to ignore the wintry cold air blast as much as possible. It was bitterly cold and windy - Frodo and I don't like that kind of weather at all but I do not want to complain about it. Today is the first day of Spring and let's hope spring temperatures arrive soon. I found pockets of time to read and to knit at home even though I am still driving down to the hospital to visit dad who is now in a regular room. My family and I are hoping he can go to a rehab facility soon.  I continue to enjoy knitting my top down sweater . How was your weekend?

Good morning! This week I've been focusing on two knitting projects. I have halfheartedly put in a few rows on my new cardigan . I enjoy this project but I am trying to finish up the pink shawl. The pink shawl is almost done. I have one more row then I'm casting off. I've been toting this back and forth when I visit my dad in the hospital (still in ICU, still improving). Maybe today is the day it's off the needles! Fingers are crossed. What are you working on this week?

Good morning! How are all of you doing? I'm doing great, my dad continues to improve in the hospital and that makes each day a fabulous day. The sweater I started a few days ago, is a sweater pattern I've knitted 5-6 times from an Ann Budd top down book. I wrote out my own specific instructions on a piece of loose leaf paper. I love when the past me helps the future me in knitting patterns. Yesterday while visiting my dad for the day in ICU, I made a lot of progress! I started another pair of socks for my husband in a green-blue color way. Those also come along to the hospital as well and I add a few inches here and there. Sock knitting is comfort knitting. The last project on the needles is the never-ending seashell shawl . I am so close to being finished but each row takes forever (feels like it). I believe this shawl will block beautifully once it's off the needles. What are you working on this week?
